Am I really safe with a weapon in my possesion?

The news is released, the possession of a fire arm is legalized in the US now. If I have a pistol in my pocket I can think that I can defend myself but am really protected? My attacker can be armed too now and what if I accidentally hurt somebody else? Was it not better to have an none armed civilization? Talks are being held among the super powers not let some countries have nuclear weapons just to avoid bloody war but is it only a missile that can kill? and what about the pistol? a toy?? Guys its up to you what would you like to have. We have recently seen on TV the shooting in campus and so many innocent got killed not once but several time and imagine every one having an arm. What I can see is that a catastrophe is waiting to happen very soon. Oh GOD please help us.
