Hello to everyone! With the strides that technology has made in making our lives more convenient, we've witnessed many innovations that we somehow now take for granted when in earlier times would've been very impressive and eye catching. The very known item that can be a very good example would be cell phones. From simple talking, we can now send short messages to each other and as improvement is constant, we now could avail of multiple capabilities like going online, capturing videos, sharing images, listening to the radio or playing your personal playlist while playing games installed. We may add more features to the list of what cell phones today could do. Yet, even with all the features that mobile phones are capable of, us users are sometimes just simple and use a few basic functions. So, what are some of the functions that your cell phone has but, you don't really use at all? For me, I don't really use my phone to go online. I'm more convenient with a computer than with a phone when going online. I rarely use the calculator in my phone as well.. How about you with your cell phones?

The games part. In fact the games all have been deleted off to create more mbs in my phone. The application part is still there but I never use it.

@zweeb82 only your initial posts are counted so the replies or the comments that you would follow up wouldn't be counted at all on your post count but still be credited on the activity that you do here on myLot Yeah, not gaming anymore though, I did had it loaded with games before.. the battery just couldn't keep up with my gaming and it took a toll on how long my phone could actually last on its battery on just being a phone.. I now have a PSP for my gaming

Yup, she's only 6 posts away. It's kinda weird as mine is still stuck to 551 even after replying to all you guys regarding the talk/type discussion. Anyway, you got an N-Gage & you're not using it for gaming? Aw...but games can be very addictive though at times, haha

Hi. I have a "Motorazr V3i" for now and I must say it is very reach in functionality. Though I spend a lot of time with my gadgets but still the "MMS" function is the one that I have never tried. It's not that I don't know how to use it but just I don't feel like sending MMSs.

Mine can be abundant with functions as well and, similar to what you have stated, I too don't utilize the capability of my phone to send MMS.. aside from it being pricey, I can always use the bluetooth function to send media files to other phones

hi ratyz! my cellphone is not that advanced. aside from calls and sms messaging, i can also use it to go online (but i can only access very limited websites since it is not that advanced), i often use its calculator, my cellphone calendar is very much used, i play with the games once in a while, i use the camera once in a while. hmmm.. the features i rarely use, and do not use at all, are the voice messaging and instant messaging (yahoo messenger, ICQ, and AOL instant messenger). and yeah, the stopwatch. i never use that.

Not that advanced but it sure does sound like your mobile phone is online featured.. I mostly don't use the online features of my mobile phone since its too expensive and using the computer is much more convenient than to use the mobile phone.. just think of the key pad limitations..

Hi there!Ratyz5, I'm not using the call sign. Because I don't use to call, I just make some txt messages. I prefer not to bring my cell phone too when I have to go some where that are really not important. Cell phones now is very eye catching, we have a crisis now..and some frustrated people are now in to dirty works just to feed their family, you know..what I mean.

I don't use that button to call as often as well but, I often press that button when sending those text messages. It works the same way on my phone. I also don't mind bring it to places that doesn't have any importance what-so-ever but, if there is something important going on, I'd better bring it along in case they call for me about it. Yeah, now-a-days as well, there are a lot of people out there, out of their wits and doing criminal activities like snatching purses or even mobile phones and dealing them else where just to "earn" money for them or perhaps, their family to have something to eat during meal times. What can we do anyway? Nobody can think right if their stomach is always complaining..

I don't use the voice activation dialing part & the speaker phone although I used to use the speaker phone on my previous phone as it was quite handy but the PDA phone now I use takes a few more steps especially with the stylus...So I don't use them anymorealthough I still use speed dialing

Oh yeah, so do I.. I don't use that even though its quite funny when I'd just say 'ugly' and my sister's number would be immediately contacted PDA phones.. quite a business type and speed dialing is indeed perfect for such transactions

HahaaDon't be so mean to your sister, hahaYeah, PDA phone - business type. If it weren't for business purposes I wouldn't even want to really use it. Sometimes I really miss my old Nokia 3210, haha

That's okay.. she also calls me 'ugly' in our own language and we often use that word for close relatives weird, I know but, it works for us 3210? Yeah, that model was my first phone and I simply liked it alot. I wouldn't mind having one again.. I really like using its stop watch.. I could do 00.00.07, fast tapping the start and stop command. would challenge my classmates 'til they give up..

Since I owned a PDA phone, there's a lot of features I'd rather not to use. Like, games application, the camera function, wallet, MMS (there is a price on it as well the web browser function), music player, office features and etc. I only use the text message and calling functions.

You owned a PDA phone? Perhaps you have also owned those basic mobile phones that have those simple features that you usually use.. well, its just a suggestion really to just have an ordinary mobile phone since it seems more convenient that way.. Some PDA phones that I know of are kind'a bulky in size.. then again, its your choice after all
@ratyz5 (7808)

Well, we often get used to things that we always bring along.. knowing no reason and admitting that it has become a routine within the habit.. still, it serves its purpose just the same
• Philippines

Yeah, I thought about that. PDA is too bulky to handle that's why I always bring handbag every time I go even to the grocery stores. Sometimes I tend to leave it in the house if I have to go out for a while. But then, I still prefer to have it than an ordinary phone and that's I don't know why. Maybe it is too expensive. Lolz.

We had the online Internet usuage too when our cell phones were working and never used it, cause they charged us a fortune. Mostly we use our phones for talking and not texting. I have used mine to play games and that is fun!

Those internet usage would be among those package deals that they really never say that would have fix charges even if you don't actually use them.. More talk, less text messaging? That could work for me, if only our network providers would make it more affordadle.. And then I just like the battery to last long enough when I play games on my mobile phone..

Seems like push to talk makes your phone communicate with other phones with the same feature but, you still get charged with it. Have you had that phone of yours checked so that you'd get better video quality every time you try to record?

Yeah the calculator is rarely used on my phone but all in all I think people love to have the options of having as many things and features on their. As one never knows when they might need it. I think technology is really great and we are so lucky to be able to experience it. For those that were stuck without it many many years ago I imagine how life is like for them, it would still be good but we have so many things that we should be grateful for now matter how small.

Touché It is always handy to have those extra feature 'cause as you have mentioned, you'd never know when it would become usefull. Hehehe, indeed, simple as life before was.. the only things that keeps things going for us with techie items would be their batteries and electricity.

hmm, mine would be timer and stopwatch function. I really don't use it at all. I mean, I don't know where I could use it. And also notes or task reminder. I rarely use it as well, perhaps, I couldn't think of something that I can use it or tasks that I have to remember.

Nokia 3310 - The Nokia 3310 is a dual band GSM900/1800 mobile phone. Released in the fourth quarter of 2000, it replaced the massively popular Nokia 3210. This phone sold extremely well, being one of the most successful phones with 126 million pieces sold.[1] Several variants of the 3310 have been released, including the Nokia 3315, 3320, 3330, 3350, 3360, 3390 and 3395.

Design
The 3310 is a compact, but somewhat heavy (133 g) phone featuring an 84 x 48 monochrome display. It is a slightly rounded rectangular unit that is typically held in the palm of a hand, with the buttons operated with the thumb. The blue button is the main button for selecting options, with "C" button as a "back" or "undo" button. Up and down buttons are used for navigation purposes. The on/off/profile button is a stiff black button located on the top of the phone.

I use to enjoy stopwatching my classmate's phones.. well, the Nokia 3310s that they have since they have a better stopwatch feature than any other mobile phones that I have held my hands on. I once did a 00.00.07 on the stop watch, seeing how quick you can tap the start and stop command for that function.. and then, a classmate of mine fluked out a 00.00.05 on her phone.. I guess you have a very good memory to recall anything that others need to note or remind themselves about

I like to answer the discussion reversely. The features that I used in my cell phone is just the writing of message and the calling of people listed in the phone book. I rarely listen to music, nor net surfing, nor playing.

You preferred to answer reversely since you have more features in your phone that you don't use than features that you actually use, huh? If the battery in my mobile phone would just last long enough, I would probably be still considering its audio functions

For me, i never use the games and wallet function. I don't know why phone has a wallet function when it doesn't contain any real money anyway. My fried told me that it's supposed to help me keep track of my spendings and earnings, but I don't want to do that on my cellphone. It's safe enough since the program requires a password, but I'd rather do the computations in my head. As for the games, the screen's too small for me to enjoy playing. And I don't have time to play games when I'm texting anyway.

Hmmm, a wallet function.. seems like an odd feature but, maybe others really do use it to compute on their expenses than to handle it themselves.. wouldn't also have use for such a function if my phone did have a feature like that.. Screen size is also something that gets me disappointed with mobile phones that are packed with visual features since I really can't appreciate the display of little images or videos playing..

I seldom use it's MMS function because sending messages like that are expensive. I also don't use the internet function because it's really better to use a computer for that. I also don't use the alarm because I have my alarm clock for that.

I do not use text messaging, e-mail, downloading music and things. I like a cell phone for it's address book, the games that are already in there, the calendar (to remind me what appointments that I have coming up), and sometimes call forwarding. If it's a phone, it's a phone. If I want to take pictures, I'll get a camera. If I want to listen to music, I can turn on a radio or stereo. It's like if you have an ice crusher, do you want it to make pasta???....lol DCMerkle

I kind'a agree on you on that. If an item is designed to do a specific purpose, it can do it efficiently with no unsatisfying results. Mobile phones having multiple features can be catchy but performance is also scattered which grants users varying qualities. I appreciate your insight

I have a bare bones phone, since I only use it for emergencies. I really hate cell phones. I don't have a camera. I don't have lots of fancy ringtones. I could access the internet, but I don't. And only once in a while do I send text messages (responses, not initiated) to my son's girlfriend.

Earlier camera phones only use video graphic accelerators when taking pictures. It was okay back then but, when megapixel camera phones came around, it got more preferred than the earlier VGAs. Its obvious that cameras have more photography capabilities than camera phones. Even though some camera phones already utilize the flash, red eye, or even color set up to choose either colored, black and white, sepia or even negative, cameras have more better zooming capabilities, better flash, red eye and color set up. Its convenient for a phone to have a camera capability but, if you like quality, you can never go wrong with a stand alone camera gadget

When I saw this post, I had to immediately pick up my phone and check which applications I'm not using that much. I rarely use the Games app. There's the chess app but I don't know how to play it. There's the golf app also. If I ever use them the two games I usually play would be Soduku (Not sure if I spelled that correctly) and Snake. I rarely use Yahoo! Mobile function because the Yahoo! Go icon just won't work. Also the conversion thingy, inch to cm vice versa.

Sudoku - A puzzle in which a grid consisting of several regions is to be filled with numbers so that every row, column, and region contains only one instance of each number. The most common format is a grid of nine rows and columns that are divided into nine smaller regions of three rows and three columns into which the numbers 1 through 9 must be placed.

 - answers.com
I also did that when I was starting to post this discussion.. looked at my phone's features and tried to recall if I have ever used some of them.. I think its spelled Sudoku.. though I really don't play the game myself.. quite difficult for my capability it seems Maybe your network provider doesn't grant you the privilege of using Yahoo! Mobile function..
