One of our favorite past times when we were young was to chase dragonflies. It was the time when dragonflies roam the fileds like little airplanes.
There was really a thrill in catching the insect especially if you would try catching it when it is resting on a blade of grass.
You sneak in slowly, hold your breath and carefully move your fingers. If you got one, huuulla! what a thrill. small accomplishment but a genuine taste of joy.

I saw a dragon fly the other day flying around at the park. The things I always loved to catch though were lightening bugs they are so neat how they can light up and flash.

I remember doing this when I was little, at Dad's cottage. The dog would join in chasing them too. It was fun to wach.

wow! the title really caught my attention.
BTW thanks for starting this discussion.
i've never seen a dragonflies for years, i missed them much.
i am now living in the city and whenever i go back to our province,
dragonflies were rarely seen.
i've remeber when i was young, i and my uncle were fond of chasing
dragonflies everyafternoon in front of our house,
he taught me how to catch them and i was soo happy by then.
but after a minute we freed them.
it was so fun because catching dragonflies was not that easy, right?
i wish i can see and chase lots of dragonflies again.
