Do you sit late at work to please your boss

When I worked I did work extra hours., Would come in early, not take breaks or lunch, stay late and go in on weekends. Most of the time I didn't put the extra time on my time card. I loved my job. Made a good salary. But all my extra time given didn't save me from the chopping block when the economy wentsouth. If I had it to do over, I wouldn't work extra.

I stay until very late every day but not in order to please my boss, but because there is so much work to do. I can't feel good knowing that work should be done. As I belong to a level where this is taken for granted, there is no payment for extra hours. At the other hand, I can dispose of my time whenever I need to have some hours free. I must add that I love my work, and although there are some necessary tasks I do not cherish in, at the whole I love it so much I wonder sometimes why I get paid for following up my hobby.

It has a double side to it. Work late and you impress by your diligence. Work late and you show that you are incompetent in your job and need extra time to do it! I think the best course is to work a few minutes past days end just to finish something you are on but most impressive of all is to be there for your boss when there is a crisis and he needs your help to get him out of a tight spot. A weekend spent like that is worth much more than working late every day.

I used to do that before specially when im new at work. I tend to work late just to please the boss and to let him know that Im serious at my work. But later on I realized its not really necessary, just do the job properly, be efficient and you dont need to work for long hours =)

Yeah if they need some 1 to stay and cover the night shift if the girl calls out i'll always help cover. But i'm not doing it all the time anymore i've learned!

i have never sit late to please my boss.don't need to do like this.we can't miss our company bus.otherwise we have to walk thirty minutes to outside of the nuclear power plant on foot.

I stay late at work only if there is work to be done, or the boss needs to meet with me. Other than that, I don't think I'll stay back just to please him. Do you stay late at work too?
