Cool deal. they will get bigger next year. I can't recall if I gave him some asiatic or tiger lilies. Tigers have the larger flowers.

They are beautiful! I have orange ones with black stripes, we always called them tiger lilies. They are already blossomless again but there's another batch of them that have yet to bud and bloom so I get a double treat this summer!

Beautiful!
I still don't know what type of lily this is that I've got growing outside my window. I thought it would have blossomed by now, but the buds are still there with no sign of opening.
It has these dark, small marble-like things growing all the way up the stalk too and I have never seen anything like it. I thought they were bugs at first but they are definitely not. Sorta like a bean, I guess.

Are those marbles like a deep brown color? If so that's a female plant and those are seeds that can be grown as well.

Yes! Very dark brown, almost black. So does this mean it is in fact an Asiatic?
Can I pick them off and plant them then, or how do you do it?

I would think they could. Here in Minnesota they survive the cold snowy winters as well as the hot humid summer months also. Thanks also.

I love asiatic lilies. We have several planted in our garden beds. There is one that I found hiding today and it is being overcrowded by our tiger lilies. I have to find a roomier place for the asiatic lily.

They are very easy to transplant. I do it either after the leaves turn brown in the fall or early spring as they first pop out of the soil.

oh grandpa bob thats really so pretty and wow when they
all open what a feast you will have for the eyes. just
truly beautiful to look at. Do they have any fragrance,
'not that makes them any less attractive if they do
not. I wonder if one could plant them in a window box, just
an idea.

I have never really sniffed them to be honest. And only once have I cut them for a vase on the table. So no idea really. I'll have to check when it isn't raining. I also have some orange and bright yellow ones that should open soon as well. I don't think they'd do well in a flower box actually.

I wouldn't see why they wopuldn't flower. As long as they still look healthy they should. Unless you moved them after the buds got large etc. Thanks also.
