I have a lot of wild frens growing around my yards. They are very hardy withstanding the Minnesota cold winters. They get to be about 2 feet tall and maybe a foot in diameter. Now during my walk through the local nature center last weekend there was an area that was almost all ferns and looked great. This is a shot of it. This area goes far back as well. I love ferns and their looks as the spread out fully opened. Do you have this type of fern growing in your area at all? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Most my ferns are in bad shape due to the severe weather we have experienced this year. they are not protected like these in the photos by trees etc. Thanks also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I am astonished at the weather patterns that have pummeled the Midwest all year long... This has got to the craziest season for you fine folks! I hope that you and family were able to ride it out well, and that you'll have a better season ahead! :)

Oh my Grandpa, that picture is awesome! You really are quite the photographer. Perhaps you should gather a bunch of your photos and do a book? Anyway, when I lived in North Carolina there was a fern or two that was native to the area. They were gorgeous. However, the ferns you show are much prettier. I would love to have one of those ferns! Any idea how you could mail me one? Ha! The home we just bought has a water feater in the backyard and I can visualize how pretty the ferns would be around the water feature!

My brother's house has a kind of a mini-forest in the back of it. I have a little garden where I have some tea plants in pots. I will be getting some oregano and basil from home which my wife will be sending to me next week so I prepared some pots for them. I have been dabbling in EM (effective microorganisms) sometimes called BIMO (beneficial indegenous microorganismas and I put some preparation on these posts. Cheers!!

Mine is like that except mine is controlled as I set aside areas for different type of plants and it all looks great. Sounds interesting what you're doing. Any photos to share of your work here? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I don't have ferns around my place but I may just put some in next year. I know, everything is "next year" with me but I was unprepared this year and had a cash shortage as well as no concrete plans. Now that I see my yard and know it pretty well, I have all kinds of things I plan to do! Ferns look so beautiful in a garden!
