Internet: affecting lives, at work, rest and play

I'm interested in knowing how the Internet has played a role in your life. Has the Internet changed the way you are entertained? Does the Internet have more of a role in your household than games consoles or TVs? Has the Internet changed your reading or studying habits? For me, the Internet has changed the way I look for information. I always use search engines to, for example, look up phone numbers for taxis, plumbers, etc when I used to use the phone book. As a student, the Internet hasn't replaced my use of books and journals but it has certainly increased my scope of research opportunities. The Internet has also changed my entertainment habits. I used to watch TV for a few hours a week, but I hardly ever watch TV programs anymore. The Internet has offered me a more diverse, interactive entertainment and educational environment that is fun, innovative, interactive and extremely useful!

The internet completely changed my life in the way I make my living. I am a writer and I used to spend hours researching in libraries for information for articles. Then I would spend more time sending out articles to magazines and wait up to 6 months for a reply. Now I can do most of my research on the internet and use e-mail to send out articles. I'm also involved with writing websites where I can sell my work. It has saved me a lot of time and money and now on gas since I never have to leave my computer to work! Great question!

That's fantastic to hear. I have written a bit but haven't had anything published on the Internet, just magazines. Thank you for sharing your experience, as I am currently in the process of gathering togther potential resources and websites to write for :)

For me the internet has helped me get info on cmputers when needed, find phone numbers, and people. It has also given me an opportunity to meet new people and make long distance friendships and roll play a little bit.
