Hello, I am new to this site so I thought I would give a shot at a discussion on a topic I was informed on late last night! Hot Dogs? Can they really be that bad for you? I have never been one to eat hot dogs, they just dont hit the spot for me. My kids on the other hand (1 and 3yrs) love them. Especially my 1yr old little boy. He will eat one at least 4 times a week. I had been talking to a good friend of mine about not giving hot dogs to childern under 24 months. So being the concerned parent I googled it! I was amazed at what I found on Hot dogs, how horrible they are for you, and what they are made out of, I was just glad I never had a taste for them. As I read further I found that Hot dogs containing Nitrate can increase the chance of childhood lukemia by almost 9 times when eaten by childern more then 12 times a month! I was shocked! I never knew that. So needless to say I know they are a choking hazard if not cut up tiny enough to chew and swallow for the toddlers but now because of all the crap that goes into them they can cause cancer! I will no longer be feeding him hot dogs daily! For one they are horrible for you , cause cancer, and are a major chocking hazard! Has anyone Had any trouble with Hot Dogs and Toddlers, I'd love to hear about it! ~Proudmommyof2~
