Living a ficticious life

Most nights I find myself at my computer for about an hour playing this game. Star Wars Galaxies. Basically it is a online Mylot in game form. You create a charecter, you complete quests and you meet friends, sit and talk with them, go on missions together. Basically it allows me, for 60 minutes a night, to live in Star Wars Galaxy. I have several characters, but my favorite is Melcar Tanosavich. (That name is a name of a character in a book I am writing) He is a medic and we have alot of fun. For those of you who play the game I am on Bria galaxy. For those who would like to play the game you can look me up.
Anyway, what do you do to "escape reality". read a book? watch tv. etc. How are you affected if you don't get to do that often?

Don't think I ever heard of the one before. I like the Star Wars Galaxies because quite frankly it was one of the very first MMO games. I love the movies and it is something me and my son can do together. (Whenever he's not grounded from the computer.)

I know exactly what you mean when you say, "escape reality." I've been to that point so many times, especially when I lived at home. I have four sisters and one brother, so the house got quite hectic at times. When I lived at home, my "escape" usually involved lying on my bed and reading a book or sitting at my computer desk in the corner of my room to surf the web, myLot, etc. without the interruption of anyone else. I'd close the bedroom door to keep things quiet, although that usually didn't work too well. It also didn't work well when my younger sister got home from college because she and I used to share a room (until I moved out, of course). Something else I would do was lie on my bed and talk to my fiance on the cell phone. Probably the best and my most favorite way to escape (while still at home, of course) was to read a book. I believe I have a great imagination, so I could dive right in a feel like I was in a completely different place. For this reason, I wish I had (made) more time to read. Another escape for me is to jump in my car and head off to the store to look around and not to buy if possible since that could get dangerous! (LOL) Going out and buying things would probably stress me out more than being home and needing an escape. Funny how that works. Anyway, another place I can go during one of these times is myLot. My imagination serves me well in being able to engulf myself in wonderful discussions and responses. I find this a very calming and encouraging place to be. That's why more often then not I'm here during my lunch break and in between busy times as well. It's still on the same computer I work on, but it's so different! I'm glad I have things I can do to get away from the "here and now" and all the crazy things happening in my life. I believe that's why God commands a day of rest, which is one out of every seven days per week. He knows that we can't continue on and on without the rest and relaxation we need to rejuvenate us. I also enjoy watching some good movies and relaxing to take a nap after (or even before) a long day. There are so many things I like to do to cure myself of the stress that I need to get rid of. Grea discussion!

Another great reply. I do find this to be a place to kick off your shoes and start and respond to discussions and hear what everyone else is think about a certain subject. Thanks for the reply.

My favorite game is Jewel Quest, and as simple and repetitive as it is, I can play it for hours. The puzzles and patterns do actually get more challenging as you level up but I am not too good at competition so I do well at things like this where you can play alone, but still stimulate your mind.
My other big pass time is playing with graphics and photograph modification on the computer. Yesterday I spent almost the whole day doing nothing but that, trying to crop and adjust the pictures I took at my son's graduation the night before.

Those type of games stress me out. I do not like being on a deadline. As the timer runs out I find my heart starts beating faster and I can't concentrate. Like the game CatchPhrase. AHHHH!!!Just thinking about it stresses me. Thanks for the comment.

I listen to the radio every once in a while. I find more enjoyment play the keyboard or writing songs. Of coarse that's just me.
