Do you still send letters in the mail? Is there a need anymore?

I was thinking today about when the last time I used the postal service to send a letter! I cannot in all honesty remember. Everything I do now is by the computer. If I want to write a letter to someone I email them. If I want to do business...I email them. It is all through technology for me now. How about you? When is the last time you used the postal service and mailed a letter? Is there a need anymore?

There is still a need when a signature is needed on a document. I am like you, though; I do most of my correspondence by email. I hardly ever use the postal service, unless I need to mail a package or something must go by registered mail. The postal service doesn't help matters any when they keep raising the cost of postage. I don't understand them. They go a few years without raising prices, then raise it 3, 4 or 5 cents all at once. I guess it's their way of increasing profits by not having to print new stamps every year.

Hello golfproo, I really, really can't remember when was the last time. I feel like it has been years. But I remember the last letter that I wrote. It was for my ex-boyfriend. If that's the case, my last time should be about 10 or 15 years ago. I am lazy to write as I can type faster. My hand aching a lot whenever I try to write even if it is only half a page!

I do everything that I can by the computer but there are just some things I cannot do. Alot of people do not have a computer for me to send a letter to them. Some of the places that we do business with in my area, do not have a website either or an email address. I would love to do everything online though. I spend alot of time on here anyway.

yes i do, for i have a sister who lives abroad. i send cards and letters together with some goodies that can only be bought here that she misses to eat. but rigth now she is here with us. she is pregnant and waiting for the delivery here. for e there is still a need, it depends on the person you are sending and it depends if you still want to do it.

Internet has overpowered the usefulness of post offices. It is more convenient to send mail by internet. Nothing can challenge the speed of conveying messages by internet. The younger generations will no longer recognise what a post office is meant for.

I always send any Birthday, Christmas cards by mail. I think it's more personal that way. I do pay most of my bills except for a few on the computer. There are a few companies that don't do any correspondance by computer. I find that hard to believe in this day and age, but they're out there.

To be perfectly honest nowadays I use postal service to get books from amazon, other orders from online shops. Once a year I send Christams cards. But really that is all. I stick to text messagaes, emails and e-cards. Saving the trees, right? Not to mention the reply time is faster...
