When we talk about some foods, we think of some countries. Such as: kimchi= korea sushi= Japan spaghetti= Italy... Which food makes people think of your country? I think, NASI LEMAK can make people think of Malaysia, do you agree, Malaysians?

Hokkien Mee - the soup is made from prawns - blended prawn shells and some pork bones/meat. The noodle is yellow noodles, and there's hardboil egg, fried onion (bawang goreng), beansprout and add chilli paste (optional)....ohhh...speaking of this delicacy...I am suddenly hugnry now...it's very yum you know especially the soup...I gotta sign this off now before my saliva starts drooling cos I only had porridge for dinner yeserday.....

Well I must admit that I wasn't sure what to put as we take a lot of foods from different countries and incorporate them as our own. Take pizza for example, an original Italian treat, we have prodded and poked until it was all our's. Hotdogs is a good choice though. Have a Great day.

Dear friend, In India it is Rotti and Dal (Chappati and dal it is curry) and in the State where I am called Kerala it is Sadhya it make of rice with lots of curries and pappadams it tastes good mostly it is special during marriages and other special occassions and festivals. In the catagory of non-vegetarian it is chicken briyani and in our it is fish fry or fish curry with rice. All over India it is again Chappatti or Rotti with dal.

Hmmm ... We have a lot of local foods here that would make Indonesian recall their country again. Gado-gado and Ketoprak (Jakarta), Gudeg (Yogyakarta), Sagu (Papua), Nasi Padang and Sate Padang (Padang, West Sumatera island), etc. And I think I will miss Nasi Padang very much if I go abroad. Oh yeah ... Tempe Goreng is still my favorite for years. :P Wait a minute ... I am craving for foods now ... LOL.

North part of India is famous for mughali foods,Dum foods which include veg non veg curries prepared with special spices and chapatis Chapati are of different type like stuffed with vegetable..... Eastern part is famous for fish curries in nonveg and Posta curry which is prepared with opiumseeds. South is famous for Dosa's flat pan cake of rice and lentils stuffed with different types of cooked vegetable. Idli it is steamed grounded rice served with grounded coconut. There are endless foods..

Grandpa Bob beat me, but I was going to say hamburgers, although I think hot dogs might equal them in being culturally USA - yet, do we really have any food that is only ours? Hot dogs = frankfurters = German sausage. Hamburgers = named after Hamburg, Germany, but why? But, what do they say? Baseball, hot dogs and apple pie - all American symbols, so maybe it IS hot dogs. We can buy burgers all around the world now, but I don't see too many Wienerschnitzels or Coney Dogs anywhere but in the SouthWest or NorthEast.

Without a doubt, Nasi Lemak is Malaysian. It may have originated as a Malay delicacy, but now every race in Malaysia has their own version of it, making it a universal Malaysian dish. It definitely is our(I'm Malaysian) signature dish. Though unfortunately, it's not as famous as other country's food. What about roti canai (aka roti prata)? Rojak? I think these are significantly malaysian too.

Here in the Philippines I would say it's the sinigang (it is a hot and sour soup) This is simply because it represents the Filipino's unity despite of diversity. There are actually many variations of sinigang but their main difference lies on two ingredients. The meat that will be used and the ingredient that would make it sour. For the meat we could use pork, beef, fish, shrimps etc. as for the souring agent we use tamarind, guava, kamias, miso etc. You might see that we actually could use any type of ingredient that would represent us but actually in the end we are just one dish united just like the sinigang.

Good question curious. There are many foods which are typical of my country.I am from India and it has lots and lots of recipes and food varieties. But if the question of representation of my country through a food item is concerned then it has to be very popular world wide and I have to select a food item of my nation which most of other country citizens must be aware of.Hmmmm let me think,it can be roti (Indian bread),Dosa,Idli,Chhole Bhature........hmmmmmm ........yes! it has to be Tandoori Chicken
