I am a chinese girl. I found a topic in a BBS that there have a gentle woman training amongst colleges at the first time in Zhejiang province. The training is mainly about to teach girls how to stand, smile, talk with others, etc. En, do you think it is useful for these girls? I think it is amost a nonsense. It is better if they taught by their parents from childhood...
What's your idea about it? Talk freely.

yes, it makes many sense.. not all the parents has an ability to teach their child to be a gentle woman not specifically gentle woman. maybe this colleges want to develop all this girl how to be professional,, so they can use it in their future... i already experienced such trainings here at the philippines, we call it business refinement and social ettiquette,, and i always used what i've learned, like in social gathering with high profile personalities,,, so, i don't look stupid in front of them or maybe in business world you have to look professional. hope you don't offend in my response tanx

hi Vicky_lee...
do you know the "dai ai" channel? there is a program their featuring students and teachers...
its not the normal school because the principal there is very kind both to the teachers and students...(unlike the school my mother is teacher the principal is very rude)
in the program you can see the concern of the teacher with each an everyone of their students...after class the teacher are still working overtime like parents to their sons & daughters..they taught the students not only lessons from the book...but they taught the students to be good persons and responsible citizens...
they teach the students to clean the school surrounding, and funny thing they reward the students to clean the toilet if they achieved a very good conduct...the reverse that we know it to be a penalty...hehe
anyways...back with your topic...i agree with the training for gentle woman...its for a better character of the students and its not bad ^_^ and i am not against it to be general because it is not all parents can teach their children the proper ways because probably they themselves lack the training...so let the teachers teach... just my thoughts...
SMILE ALWAYS...^_^

I'm aslo a Chinese girl. I think this kind of training is especially useful for those who ofen contact with different people ,such as a model, a secretary, a public relation girl, a celebrity or a business woman. For general person, we don't always need to limit ourselves to this formality. But the training may be helpful when you switch your job, and you'd better know it, just like the Chiese idom 'in fair wearher prepare for foul'. so I think if you are well-off and free enough to have this training, that's good.

I guess first I would need to know something about the culture that I assume this is associated with. What is the average age of college in your country? At first glance it would seem that the teachings that you speak of what have already been obtained by college age! But maybe its not as simple as you say. I mean obviously you learn to walk many years before college or even the elementary level for that matter. But if walking carries a different meaning for instance like how to walk like a model that may be something totally different. Maybe you can expand the discussions with more specifics.

Well, the average age of college is 18-22 year old in our country. Our traditional culture for woman is to be a gentle woman in old years. But now, with the developing of the whole country, the society is opener than old years. Girls like acting as the same as movies, such as the popular K.R. movie: my Barbaric Girl Friend. Also, maybe there have any other factors I've no idea.
With regard to the walking which doesn't teach them how to walk like a model. I don't know how to explain in English....En, just like a gentle woman~~~
Ok, let me show the most special rules for "gentle woman": you won't release the teeth when you smile. Then ancient woman should obey this rule.
Hope you could understand what I mean....
