Hi,
Just wondering, should I buy a Ps2 to play games or should I buy a Ps3 to play games? The origin of question comes from the fact that while much more expensive, the Ps3 80gig will play Ps2 games. Yet, the Ps2 is alot more inexpensive and will play lots of neat games. So, what do you all think? Your input would be awesome and God bless, leofa.

Having been through all the sony playstations and enjoyed mainly car and motorcycle racing games, I would'nt have a PS3 if one was given to me.
Apart from looking like a slice of helicopter rota blade, the PS3 has no vibration in its controllers - a huge let down if you happen to like racing games.
I went (last week) to my local high profile games and console retailer, prepared to kit myself out with the whole package of PS3 - thinking that perhaps, by now, Sony would have thought to improve PS3 and put vibration into the controllers ... but no - not a chance.
The guys in the shop blew me away with their bad and disapointed comments about PS3 (hence my not naming the shop). They also showed me a comparison of prices between PS3 games, PS2 and XBox - of the ones I saw, every single game was far more expensive for PS3 than the others.
Further to this, the guy shouted out to all his colleagues "Hey Guys ... PS3 or XBox?". Without a single exception, they all immediately said XBox.
Having then been shown the XBox range and seen the vast quantity of games, at less cost than PS3, and enjoyed the beautifull graphics on the XBox, and the ease with which it can go online - there is no doubt in my mind which console I will buy next week.
It pains me to reveal such a negative experience regarding PS3, especially as I have always been a Sony PS devotee, but the bottom line is; I have been shown good reasons to buy XBox, and this, combined with my personal disappointment with PS3, has led me to jump ship.
Dear leofajohnson, if you do nothing else, just check out XBox before you buy PS3, and give yourself the chance to make the right decision for you.

i would say the ps3 my reason is because it is one of the most decent blue ray dvd players and its amazing when you crank up the vol with games. aslo the grafics are so detailed, anyway apart from that the multiplayer games that are popular are endless. but it's very expensive as well so keep that in mind
hope this helps with you decision!

Go for the Ps3.
The system you are looking at is backwards compatable so it can play both the Ps2 and Ps3 games ( but you already knew that).
It also hase internal memory cards so that they will never get lost and you have tons of space to save your games.
The big thing is this, the Blue Ray player. Since febuary of this year HDDVD has been beeten by Blue Ray, witch means more movies and products will be in Blue ray now. Knowing that, you should get the Ps3 so you dont have to buy a Blue Ray player later on when all the movies are on Blue Ray Disks.

Ok, I can help answer your question quite easily since I have a ps2, a PSP, and a ps3. The PS3's operating system is much like a psp if you have once, but it is organized and enables you with a lot of features. The PS3 is worth the money if you are using it with all its capibilities. First, it has about a $900 blu-ray player built in to watch DVDs. My TV isn't in HD so I rarely use this. Second, it can play both PS2 and PS3 games flawlessly. Third, the PS3 has better internet capabilities. The PS2 could go online for some games but the PS3 has a better and faster connection (Plus, the PS3 is wireless and the PS2 is wired internet). Also, you can browse the actual internet using a PS3 so it is like a portable computer. The PS3 definitally has its money worth packed into the little system but If you don't feel that you would watch blu-ray, play PS3 games, or browse the internet with it then go with a cheap PS2 which you can get from Gamestop or Ebay.
