What would you do with a day old or leftover bread?

I was at a bread shop few days ago to get my usual wholemeal bread and I come upon this bread cake, it looked so tempting and smell deliciously great And I couldn't help but bought it together with the wholemeal bread. I finished up the bread cake real fast and it was indeed delicious, so soft and tasty. Now I am left with the wholemeal bread and it's no longer that fresh. If my mum is here, she would definitely steam the bread and eat it with butter or cheese while it's steaming hot. I used to spread some sardine on the slices of bread and roll it up, coat it with egg and deep fry it. And it taste great too. What do you normally do with the leftover bread, any creative ideas? I am sure some people will feed it to the birds Thank you for sharing.

I'll use them to make french toast. I love eggs and I think that's the best way to eat it. The way your mommy make the bread is really creative. I shall try one day.

I like bread as it gets older as well as when it is fresh. If you don't like bread that is over a couple of days old why not make grilled sandwiches, Grilled cheese ,grilled ham and cheese, tuna melts or grilled tuna with cheese, Toasted egg salad. Just grill or toast any sandwich that you like.

My favorite thing to do with leftover bread is make french toast with it. But thats already been said. I can make toast or I could make bread crumbs and freeze them for later.

My mother always used older, almost close to stale bread to make meatballs and meatloaf. She would actually soak it i water and then mix it with her beef, pork and veal along with eggs and parmesean cheese and they come out soooooooooooooooooo good!

Leftover bread specifically. I would toast it and eat it. I would give it to my pet if I had one.

NOrmally, i will make into a frech toast with it, by deep frying it togther with egg.. hehe ^_^ It's one of my favourite ways to eat bread that way.. lol =D But recently, my mom came up with an idea of putting the bread inside the fridge tp prolong its expiry and it do works too.. lol ^_^ But still, i will prefer the french toast style.. haha

Yes, taste delicious too and better still the old fashion way, toast over the charcoal hot stove. And the frozen bread toasted will be so crisped and crunchy Cheers and happy posting.

Same as other people. I usually toast it with some butter or margarine. I think food shouldn't be thrown or just simply fed to animals if we can still make something out of it. Food is a blessing. If I can no longer eat I'll share it with someone else so it wouldn't be put to waste.

We have been known to take bread that isn't as fresh as we would like for sandwiches and such, and turn it into french toast. Adding some cinnamon and vanilla to your egg mixture turns a slightly stale piece of bread into a yummy breakfast or dinner! I tend to make my own bread, and at times, we have too much left over, so I make french toast, freeze it up in single servings, and let the kids pop it into the toaster or microwave for a snack. Stale bread also makes for great garlic bread as a side dish, toast, croutons if it is sliced thicker for your salad and more. And of course, you can always feed it to those hungry birds!

I'd just toast it and eat it. Or I might make a bread pudding. I dont throw bread away unless it gets mould on.
