should small children be allowed to use computers

I am not really keen on children using the computer at a very early age. Using the computer is a one way thing. I really prefer that small children should interact - to develop language and social abilities.I still prefer other educational toys. I also limit watching of TV in very young children.

It is the technology of today so yes they should be introduced to it but yes like one of the other people have said set a time schedule for when they can and can not be on. There are all kinds of math and spelling and other programs that can be used on the computer to help them learn as well. You can also lock them out of certain aireas.

Computer is a new invention and it seems we can't live without it now. Through the internet we can search the info we need and meet people from all of the world.And i think small children need to use the computer.I would be better if i have a question in my mind and could surf the internet to find the answer right away in my childhood,instead of asking teacher or parents. But we have to create a healthy environment for them.

i think it can be good as long as the time is monitored and they get a lot of time in other activities

i think small children should not be allowed to play with computer for a long time, but just to keep interest we should allow them some scheduled time where by thewy are allowed to play a few games

Hi knightrider, I have 4 niece, and i let them use my computer.As long as there is no adult site that they can see.I agree that they can use computer.They got also computer lesson at school,w/c is amazing becouse they can develop and learn more thing about tecnology, and about computer.When i was young we dont have that kind of things, i agree to all school who doing these.Right now computer is so useful for every body,Student can research already using computer ,making term paper and project.In my time i have to go to the national library do do research.have a nice day and goodluck.. I was brought up at a time when there were no home computers around and a calculator would be the size of a desktop telephone instrument. So I learnt everything the hard way. I still think that is the best way to learn the basic things. The computer should be used to enhance this learnng and as a supplement. Use it as a storehouse of information.
