Gas Prices-Is This Possible!!??!!

I heard from a friend yesterday (who heard from someone else lol) that by next year, gas prices are expected to reach 10 dollars a gallon!!! Is that even possible that gas prices can go that high, possibly even higher! If it reach that number I might as well just stop working, give up my car and use mylot and other sites just to get a little extra money. I mean heck, don't have to pay any car insurance or gas money. And I could sell my car for whatever it's worth and at that to my bank account. If gas reaches that amount, and still rises...I predict some bad things happening!!!

Truck Drivers staged a protest blockade in London in the past week about how much they're paying (Diesel is more expensive!) and in the article I read, the gov't had (coincidentally?)postponed a planned increase to the price..

Yeah I always look at the Diesel price too, and I can't even imagine!!! Seems like the protest worked! I wish something like that would happen here though! lol

I heard something like that too, I don't know really what is going on with oil but prices keep going higher, there are expected to reach $300 dollars barrel, next year but who know, it would not be truth and prices of oil would down, I said because in my country the dollars was losing value against the national currency and since a few days it stopped and dollar started to rice again, so I think it would change, but I am sure about something some people in countries with largest reserve of oil like Venezuela want prices to go higher because they want to hurt the united states economy, and I think they are right about they can hurt the us economy because I have talked to a few friend that are Americans and they are starting to have problems with the high prices on gasoline, I have heard that McCain has a idea about drilling of oil in the cost of united states because it is supposed to have a oil but they are not able for a some kind of law, anyway I hope that the gasoline fuel would be reemplace for electric cars but I have heard that it is just possible with thousands of nuclear plans for supply all the energy that would be need to make work all the cars on united states, so I think it something that can be done soon, maybe it is time to start to using the bike but I know that it is not always possible because sometimes people has to go very far or for the climate people can bike to everywhere, or maybe changing the car for a motorbike.

I defeniatly could never ride my bike to work! lol. It is a 15-20min car drive there--and it is starting to get really hot, even during the night! I work nights so it isn't like 110+ degrees when I go to work, but still hot! I just hope whatever they are planning on do, they do it fast! lol. Because I see fire and riots in the future! lol.

lol well you're in my situation, except the opposite side of the scale! It's either to cold or too hot! :P I really don't mind the driving at all, but since the gas prices has gone up--I hate the drive to work. The soaring gas prices actually took away my love of driving!

I live where it gets to be 20 to 30 or more below zero during the winter, so I couldn't bike to work. Also it's a 45 min. drive each way going 30 to 55 miles per hour, I don't think I can bike 25 miles each way.

I would not doubt it one bit. they keep talking about they are going to do something for us to get the prices lower, but I don't think they are doing anything about it fast enough. People are not affording it now and it keeps going higher daily. Bad things arer already happening to alot of us because of it. I am so glad my husband works close to home now.

What are they saying they are going to do about it? I mean what can they do? It actually takes me about 15-20 minutes to drive to work. So that's about 40 minutes of driving everyday PLUS all the driving that other people do in my car sometimes, and anywhere else I have to go. The gas prices are defeniatly really hurting my bank account! lol

Hi Lily. Agree with you. As oil price now reach another recorde level, our government has increased the fuel price as well by almost 30% ! Perhaps I should take public transport rather than using my own car. What in the world is happening? Gas price increase, commodity increase, everything increase. I hope my payment also increase. It's time to come out with the solution with cheap gas price, or maybe hybrid car that consumes less fuel.

There really isn't a public transportation I could take. I don't think there are any buses anywhere around my work. But i probably wouldn't like using it anyways. Gotta keep my crappy old car! lol. I really hope whoever wins the Presidency can do SOMETHING/ANYTHING about gas prices!!

I don't know what will happen then, I don't know what will I do. I guess maybe if the salary I am now receiving will be doubled by that time, things will changed. But just right now, how I can even send the kids to college? That will give me heavier loads and can't blame myself if I do something wrong.

Yeah I'm lucky that I don't have all the worries adults do (sending kids to college, paying for houses/bills, etc.) I'm lucky that I don't have any bills to pay, except 200 dollars a month for my car insurance. But still, with what I get paid I can not afford to drive to work as often as I do if it gets that high. Before it even makes it to 10 dollars it might not be worth it for me!

yes its possible just like the prices in germany almost everyday has nice prices its ok if down prices but very high prices.thats why this time so many family using bicycle coz they cannot afford anymore.

It is way too hot here to use bicycles. And we work too far to use them too. Most of us need our cars to get to work, but at the rate gas prices are increasing, it might not be worth it at all! They're going to have to raise minimum wage again at this rate!

Actually, I think these are all rumors, and in reality if Gas prices actually get this Bad, how bad would it effect the rest of the Economy as well to where there would be a lot less jobs, higher Food prices, etc. Hopefully we will never see something as Bad and drastic as this, and one day maybe someone will get Smart and take charge and get things back where they belong.

Wow, that would be ridiculous! As it is right now, I suspect it's going to take almost $50 to fill up my car. If that more than doubled, then yeah, I'd be seriously looking into not having a car at all.

If it reaches that amount, who to heck are you going to sell your car to? If car gas is that, then what will fuel oil be? I predict some frozen people, old, poor, and maybe everyone lower-middle class and below. If it does go that high, we'll all need to find work on the internet or at home. Take care and I hope something happens to make that not happen.
