I could have chewed through nails this morning. The phone awakened me at 8 am. It was someone marketing home security systems. I was quite rude but I don't even feel bad about being rude. No one should call at 8 AM on a Sat morning! The same company called last Sat morning. We just bought a home and the previous owners had ADT security system. It is still present but disconnected. They keep calling us wanting us to have it reconnected and use their services and we don't want a security service at this time! How do you react to marketing calls?

By law they only have a right to call a previous or existing customer. If you tell them you are on the do not call list and have never been a customer of theirs, they normally apologize and hang up. They do this because they know their company can be hit with a large fine. You can register on the link below...you can add your cell phone number too.

I wonder if they are aware what time they are calling people. I mean who knows where they are calling from. It's pretty stupid of them not to know, because no way is anyone going to be nice at that time of the morning, especially on a Saturday.
I'm on the do not call list, so it really annoys me when I get a solicitation call. I always tell them to take me off their list and I'm on the do not call registry. They know they can get in trouble if they call someone on that list. But I got a call on a Sunday afternoon which really surprised me. They start calling on Sundays now?

I'm actually not supposed to receive any but some slip through. I tell them I've spent my donation dollars for the year. Or, I don't believe in purchasing through telephone solicitation. Or, I say I'm my sister and that I passed away yesterday. I ask them, under the circumstances to remove my sister's name from their list.

I don't get those, thank the blessed Lord !
This reminds me of a story I was told once by a friend of mine.
He was in bed on a Sunday morning at 8.00 am when there was somebody calling at the gate. He goes out to find Jehovah's Witnesses offering pamphlets and got so enraged the threatened to let loose his dogs.
When he was finished cussing and shouting these do-gooders just continued down the street to all the other people.
Amazing thing for a Sunday morning.

Get onto the Do NOt Call Registry. (It can be done for your phone online.) Then, if they call, tell them you are on that list and OD NOT CALL your home again, or you will turn them inot the State Attourney General's Office. (An 11,000 dollar fine for every time they are caught doing it!)
Do not be kind or listen. Chew them out and be done with them!

Yeah, I had our number at our previous home on the Do Not Call Registery, but just hadn't had time to put the number here at our new home on the Registry. Believe me, I have done it now!

Tell them you are on the do not call list, and not to call you again or you will report them for harrassment.

I am afraid I really react badly to marketing calls, and if I were to answer one that early on the weekend, there would be ears ringing.

Sometimes you just got to swear at them, seems like that's all some people know anymore today is negative thoughts. How many Saturdays do you need to be invaided? I had the same stuff happen here and I'm usually pretty eazy going but I got right fed up of getting woke up to ask me if I wanted my septic tank cleaned. How many times does it take, and what part of I don't have a septic tank don't they understand. The last time I came unglued because I must have had a dozen calls before this one and I asked the guy if he was just plain stupid as well as deaf and told him in words I'm not going to tell you that we don't own a septic tank. That was the last call.

That is a pain when they call that early in the morning. Now if you didn't have caller ID you would pick up the phone thinking it was family or something like that. But that is something that they do. I know when I see the 800 number in the phone on the ID i just let it ring. They might leave a message but they might not. I wonder how may times to do they call during the course of a day.

If I am not the one who answers the phone, I tell my kids to tell the jerk that 'my mom doesn't speak with telemarketers'. When I receive the call, if they ask for me with my formal name, I tell them myself that I don't accept calls from people who call me that. I will often ask who is calling just to verify they are not somebody I want to speak with. If they call me Mrs. F, sometimes I'll ask for a little more information. I have caller id on my phone though and in general I check that before I answer. Sometimes I AM rude, and I have also hung up on people before. I will hang up if they keep talking when I have said no thanks, I will hang up if I can't get a word in edgewise, and i will hang up if the same company has called back more than once in a day.

OMG!! Same thing except mine was at 8:30 AM (big difference right) Anyway I basically asked the lady if she had any idea what day and time it was and how incoveniently rude she was. I also let her know we were on the "Do not Call" list which is an free website where you can sign on as many phone numbers as you'd like and usually within 90 days most of the calls stop and the ones that don't are the ones you say that to. Once they know they are not allowed to call they will hang up. Nobody wants problems with the government.

I am ex-directory so whenever a marketing company calls, which they never have thankfully, I ask them where they got my number from. I then inform them that I am ex-directory and would like my number removed from their list or they'll face legal action (obviously a bluff).

Well I wouldnt have answered the phone if it was that earliy lol. But ususally i just let it go to the answering machine and then listen to the message after they call and if it was a marketing call i just delete it if it was someone that I needed to talk to I would just call them back. But thats because we dont have caller id.

I've been upset by this and similar early-morning or absurdly late-night calls that I tell everyone I know that the ringer will be turned off at 9:00 pm and back on whenever I feel like it the next morning. If the calls-missed light is flashing when I get ready to talk (I don't do mornings well), I call them back! People say they're concerned with emergencies, but there's never been a weird-time call for an emergency. It's almost always telemarketers. You might want to try it.

why in the world do people think that by ringing us we are going to 1 listen to them and 2 even consider buying there product?
i almost always just hang up as soon as i realise its a marketing call.

I am not a morning person. If they call and wake me up I confess I am rude to them. Like you said who calls someone that early on a Saturday when you are try to catch up on some zzzzzzzzzzzzz's If they call in the afternoon I tell them politely I am not interested. I hate it when they call and I'm sitting down to eat and enjoy my family to. I now got on the no call list. They do not call anymore. I really use to get mad when I worked the night shift and they would call all day. I got a bit nasty every now and then with them. Tell them to take you off their list and stop calling.
