How to connect my laptop with my pc?

I have a wi-fi enabled laptop..n i want to connect it with my desktop pc...My purpose is just for file-sharing..But i dont know how to setup a connection between them whether it is wireless or wired??n which connection wil be more preferable for me???

what i know is there is three way to connect to pc
1) if both laptop & desktop have LAN cards then you can use cross cable to connect them both.
2) if both laptop & desktop has bluetooth then you can use bluetooth to share files between them.
3) if have a wi-fi modem or other modem through which you can connect both computer to internet. Then you can use the same modem to create network between these two computer.
