I figured the writing section would be a good place for this discussion. Ok, I will start with saying this, I am not really a songwriter, not at this point at least, I do try my hand at it, but never live up to my expectations.
Ok, now for the questions.
How do you come up with your song ideas? What are your inspirations when writing?
Also, do you write your songs in hopes of making money with them either through publishing them or recording them yourself or is it more of a creative outlet for you. Or, is it a bit of both?
Thank you in advance for any input, I will definitely comment on any response I get. This is my first attempt at a really thought out question, so I look forward to hearing what people have to say! :)

I usally get a lot of inspiration from movies when i don't know what to write about. If you want to write a political song then the best advise that i can give is to follow the news. The hardest thing is to write about yourself and your own feelings becouse of the fact that the things about yourself that are intresting are often the things that you don't want tell people about. But songs about yourself are the songs that most often turn out to be really good.

Yes, I write songs both lyrics and music. I have been playing piano for twenty two years and guitar for fourteen years. I find that most of the time ideas and words just come to me naturally. Sometimes I might just write down whatever it is that I'm trying to communicate and then edit it changing words to make it rhyme and basically transform what I've written down into a song. Where the music is concerned I tend to think up a melody in my head which corresponds with the lyrics then work out how to play it on an instrument.
