okay you are home alone, and you put some water in a pot to boil, you want to make some noodles, or something,
but the phone rings and someone invites you out for supper their treat,
you have no need to cook the noodles anymore,
so you dump the water out of the pot to put it away,
question, do you wash the pot or just wipe it?

Darn it Annie, you beat me to it. I was going to say the same thing, that he can be the one to wash it! LOL
That is what I get for having too many tabs opened at once.

Ha, ha, Rose, then tell your son to go ahead and wash it!
I would quickly wash up any dishes I might have sitting in the sink (if there are any)and use the hot water for scalding/rinsing them, put the pan in the dish drainer and then run out and have a good time!

Come on now winterrose, is this some type of trick question? I'm almost afraid to answer for fear that there is something that I am missing. LOL. I guess that I will bite. If I had some water boiling in a pot and was asked to dinner. I'd turn the stove off, empty the water and place the pot in the dish drainer to air dry. Why would it need to be washed? The boiling water cleaned it better than my lukewarm dishwater! Actually, to be more frugal I suppose one should turn the stove off, move the pot of water some place to cool and later use the water to water a plant! Why waste the water?

no it wasn't a trick question, somebody asked that question in a sitcom I was watching once, and they were told to wash it anyhow, I was just wondering what most people do.

I have plants and I never salt my water until it boils . So if the water just boiled but I didn't put the salt in, I would let it cool by just putting a lid on it and when I got back home, I would pour it into a container and keep it for the plants. But if I did salt the water, I would either go ahead and cook the noodles if I had the time . Or I would pour it out.

If it just had water boiling in it, I'd just wipe it and put it away. Heck it's probably cleaner because of the boiling water then if I washed it and didn't get all the soap rinsed out well. lol

If I have not actually put any food in the pot, I will just wipe it out and put it back in the cupboard. It's just water, and water won't make the pot diry. I just make sure it's perfectly dry, and then I put it away, and orget about it until the ext time I want to use it.

Well, in the unlikely event that somebody should call me and ask me out to supper whilst my pot of water was boiling, I would probably just dump the water out and turn the pot upside down on the dish drainer, whilst I hurried to get myself ready. Once ready, I would wipe the pot round and put it away. Boiling water sterilises and the pot isn't going to be marked or soiled in any way, so I don't see a need to wash it.
Brightest Blessings.

If I had it boiling, I would let it cool down and then dump it in my water bucket that I keep outside that I collect water from where my ac unit drips. I use that water to water my trees and flowers when it doesn't rain. Once I have dumped it out, all you have to do is wipe it out, because only thing in it was water. I would just wipe it out with a dry cloth and put the pot back for the next use.

Not a weird question at all, I would just tip the water out and wipe it with a cloth and then put it away.

I turn it over in the drainer and just let it dry. It is as clean as it was before I put the water in it. What do you do?

i wipe it out because I do not have a drainer, but basically the same as you.

It depends on whether you put salt or oil or both in the water. In that case, I will wash it, but if the salt has not been added, then I will just wipe the pot and put it away. In the second case, it is not dirty. In the first place, the water has oil and salt in it, so it is naturally dirty and you have to wash it.

If all I had was water in the pan, then why wash it? I just pour out the water and dry it.

I still wash it 'coz salt will build up inside the pot due to the evaporation of water..^_^

Hi winterose!
I would wash the pot. I always use oil when I boil noodles. So it would not just be water in the pot. If it was just water only I would just give the pot a rinse and put it away.
Have a lovely day!
Hartley
