I got my ear pierced at the age of 0.3 months, yes !!!! in India we have this tradition of piercing the ears when the babies are very small that too by a local gold smith, not a gunshot by a profesional doctor or someone, he would pierce by punching a gold string into the ear lobe, no sign of infection at all, we would just apply coconut oil to minimise the pain. also this tradition of wearing ear rings is applicable to both boys and girls, and boys will be wearing them till they start their school. there is a beleif that piericing ears would make babies intelligent , I dont know how far it is true!!
so when did you get your ears pierced

I'm your average Anglo male, born in the mid 60s and raised in the 70s and 80s. Got my left ear pierced the first time when I was 18 and had moved away from home for the fist time. Mom and work didn't like it and work forced me to take it out the 2nd or they would fire me. i got me left pierced 2 times at once the 2nd time when I was 28, and wore those piercings for many years before letting them grow over, and most recently at 43 years old, did I get my left ear double pierced again. back then I was a "long hair with full beard, and a bit rebellious, now a days, I'm short hair with a VanDyke, trimmed very tight. I suppose western society has loosened-up a little about piercings in general, but I took a lot of flack for it in my younger days.

I only had my ear pierced at the age of 18. That was relatively old to have it only at that age, the reason my mother didn't let me pierce at younger age simply because my 2 younger brothers are quite mischievous. They tends to pull people ear-rings whenever someone carrying them. So, to avoid unnecessary infection or pain, my piercing was delayed until before I went to college.

I think I was about 12 when I first got my ears pierced, I had been asking mum and dad for years and then when a family friend's daughter got her ears pierced they recommended a jewellers to get them pierced at, I think it cost nearly £25 which is a lot for piecing your ears considering hairdressers were offering the same thing for only £5, my parents were very worried that my ears would get infected so they said I couldn't get them done unless I had them done by a proper jewellers.
After that I got my second set done when I was 14, and that was at the hairdressers, not long after both my sisters and my parents actually got their ears pierced for the first time.
When I started Uni I got my cartilage and then my belly button pierced which my parents weren't too happy about but they didn't mind too much after a while. A year or so later I got two more cartilage piercings done, one of which went a bit wrong and is slightly wonky, but you can't notice it that much. I've recently though about stretching my ear a bit because I think that looks cool, but have stopped because it hurt too much.
Could talk about piercing for ages, although I've stopped now I still find it really interesting and perhaps slightly addictive!

I don’t remember actually coz my mom got it done for my when I was a few months old. She says it’s the best and I do believe her. The ear is tender and the child doest have any memories of the actual piercing.

I can tell you that kids are getting their ears pierced earlier and earlier anymore. I was 8 years old when I got mine pierced. When I was 18, I went back and got a third piercing done. My parents wanted to make sure that I was at least old enough to help take care of them so that they didn't get infected. That might be in part why parents are choosing to have them done even earlier now. This way the parents can take care of the piercings themselves and let them heal.
I had my daughter's ears pierced at about 9 months, but she only ripped them out. I waited until she was 8 after that to have them redone.

I was not allowed to get my ears pierced until I was 5 yrs old. So that is what I wanted on my 5th birthday. I feel this was a good age. I was old enough to know what I was doing and I apply this rule to my daughters. I wasn't however allowed to get a second hole until I was 18, my parents wouldn't give consent for that and I didn't agree with that, but I didn't have a choice. I respect other cultures, but don't feel it is right to pierce ears at such a young age, there are so many risks with that.

I was 25 years old and my husband of 5 years pierced them for me.. I tried all night to get my ears numb enough for it not to hurt too badly and then he used a sterilized needle to pierce them.. He did pierce one of them too low and had to redo it a few years later.. I do not like needles and this is why I made him wait for years before I would let him re-pierce the other one.. I still have them pierced and still wear my earrings on occasion..

I had my ears pierced when I was 12 years old. I just was jelous of all those girls who had their ears pierced. But I was unfortunate enough to develop an allergy to the thing in the earrings and the infection started. So I took the earrings out and let the punctures heal. And now I don't wear earrings, nor I want to.

No, my ears will never be pierced. At the age of 50 I figure I have enough holes in my head.
There was one procedure that was performed on me, popular in the 50s when I was born in the United States in the name of "hygiene" - a particular body mutilation that has come under scrutiny the past decade - done under "medical" reasons before, it is found to be totally unnecessary.
Is the piercings for religious reasons? Or is it more a cultural thing?

I was 9 years old when I got my ears pierced the first time. I didn't really want to get them pierced, but since my sister, who is 2 1/2 years older, wanted to get her ears pierced I figured I might as well ask our mom if I could mine done as I didn't know if she'd agree to it on a later date, when I would want them. But after one of my sister's earrings grew over her ear I got freaked out. The final straw was when one of my ears got infected. I removed both earrings and let the holes close up. I finally got my ears pierced in the same spot once I turned 18 years old. The reason being I waited so long was because my mom made it a rule that neither my sister or I could get our ears repierced until we were 18 years old. After what happened with my sister who can blame my her (my mom) for making this rule?

That young, huh?
I got my left ear peirced I guess around 15 years old. I did it while I was in our classroom, during a break. My female classmate insisted that I get an ear piereced. I wasn't thinking that she wanted to do the piercing so she got disappointed when she saw me piercing my ear on my own..

If I remember it correctly,I think it was pierced when I'm 2-3 years old. My grandmother was the one who did it, I think by using earrings. Well, actually, I'm not too sure if that's really the thing she used on me. But I quite remember on how I was slightly scared and curious too about doing that to my ears.

I pierced my daughters when she was three months old. It didn't hurt her much. she cried for a sec that was it. They have new born kits at walmart for this. This must mean she is intelligent! She is a smart little bugger
