In some places, marriages are fixed between close relatives like, uncles'daughter, anti's son etc. They are not going outside the circle of relatives. What about you? Your spouse already a relative or from outside?

hi snakequeen no I married a man far outside my family thank God for that, but I know of some Indian friends of mine who were picked for each other from within the family circle, and they are really very happy. seems that they had already been in love before they were picked so it seemed natural for them to marry. They are some of my closest friends too, and are very charming people.

yes he is my aunty's son. Though I was not mature, when married, I mean I could not reject this because it was fixed. I just could not oppose my parents. I din't like the match. But now I do not think so. I am a happy married woman for 21 years. My husband is very good. though he has his own draw backs like he does what ever he wants. listens only to a just few of my suggestions. Its ok for me, he does all the house hold work when free. Helps me a lot. Jokes, every thing is ok.

In this country, arranged marriages are rare, and marriage between close relatives is illegal. My husband came from a different part of the country, and my parents had not met him until we were engaged. I did not meet any of his family until after we were married. Our daughter married a man from yet another part of the country, and they eventually settled down next door to his parents. She jokes that they have the best looking and smartest kids in the area because being from another part of the country she brought in new blood.
