Has this ever happened to you? You are writing a very long, describtive response and for some reason it does not get send or gets lost some way or another and you can start all over again! It can be very annoying and some times I just leave it at that because I know I'll never get it that same way again.
How do you react?

It had happened to me a lot of time already. I guess I have no choice but to rewrite it again. Of course, I may have to change words to make it shorter because sometimes I don't have enough time. But you are above the 500th mark now, you can use the copy and paste privilege. I don't have it yet so I think I have to suffer those disappearing responses.

Copy and paste privilege? I had no idea you can't copy and paste below 500 posts? Is the ctrl+c function disabled beneath 500 posts? This sounds very interesting as I haven't heard anything on this before. If you have more info, please share :)

Yes, you only acquire the copy and paste privilege after you have reached the 500th post. Its myLot's policy so that it can prevent spammers from flooding the discussions with the same responses. Together with this privilege is the privilege to add a photo in your responses. You can add photo in a discussion after the 200th post, but in 500th post, you are able to add photos to responses.

I hate that. I usually give up. I've tried to rewrite those and never can get the feeling I had in the original. Drives me crazy. I cannot wait till I can copy and paste in here man it's long overdue!!! I have found a few tricks but I cannot copy a whole posting that is so many lines long and that I put so much effort into typing!!! And there is no way to edit anything you post here anyway! So annoying, in fact, this is my only complaint with MyLot.

If that's your only complaint on mylot this once again proofs that mylot is a great site :) We can live with this I guess, but at the moment it happens I just feel like throwing stuff around :P Thanks for adding to the discussion!

And thank you for the BR! Just the other day I was posting a discussion and got all into detail and when I tried to post lost it. Now you know after typing all that (and it was pretty lengthy) I was not going to retype! Left Mylot alone for the day after that. I am looking forward to my first payment this month so I am pretty excited bout that though.

This has happened to me in the past more times than I care to remember and it drives me crazy! I now have a habit of copying my posts before I submit them just in case! In the last few days there have also been some power failures in my building and in all cases everything went off right in the middle of me typing something. This is obviously far more rare but just as frustrating! lol.

LOL, I agree that it is equally frustrating but the chances of it happening are a lot smaller like you said. I use the copy function too, I use it at the end of a short message or multiple times while typing longer messages. It won't get saved in a power off though, you'll need a WORD document for that but those cases are pretty rare so I don't bother to save all my replies in word.

Thank you for adding to this discussions, I can very much relate to it. I feel the same way when I retype a discussion, that's why I sometimes decide just to leave it at that and don't bother rewriting.

This used to happen to me TOO often- until I was able to copy and paste- now when I know my response is going to be lengthy- I type it in WORD first- then copy it into the discussion :)
When it did happen to me I would get so aggravated that I don't even try to write it again- because as y ou said- I just don't feel it would turn out the same :(

Thank you so much for the reply!
I agree that it is better to save it somehwere as you'll only get annoyed if it gets lost and you never get it the same twice .

YES...it just have happened again to me a while ago. I seldom get this mood to write lengthy reply and I was just doing exactly that a while ago and kaboom...my internet connection played up again. It is very annoying but what can you do really? Bang your head onto your monitor? (LOL) Just see if you can recall at least the flow of thoughts in your reply and re-write it again. If you can't, then maybe try replying in another way..you know, play around with your words while keeping the sense intact. If you've lost all your thoughts and cannot gather back your wits again anymore...then maybe just log out and have a cup of tea/coffee or whatever drink that will relax you a bit. That might bring your mood back and then, you can start fresh again.

Sounds like a great way around it, take some time off and relax with a cup of tea and then start mylotting again. I should do the same thing next the time the stupid thing logs me of as has been happening since yesterday .
Not a clue why this is but more people are getting the same problem, perhaps a bug or something... I think it will be gone again soon .

I can see that with blogging it can be even more annoying because there aren't any guidelines to make a new post; as of here you can basicly make a smaller, to the point post if you find it neccessairy. I found out that ctrl-a (select all) and ctrl+c after that (copy) can be a livesaver :)

Oh yes, this has happened to me before. On here and other places. It is so frustrating when I write a long, well thought out post and then submit it and my internet goes out for a few minutes, or just long enough to suck my post into thin air. At first I feel like throwing my laptop across the room. But I try to chill, take a break if I need. Then I usually go ahead and post again, but maybe not exactly the same as I originally did, or maybe I write the same thing but actually end up writing less by saying things a little differently. But yea, when this happens I get so mad! :D

Ah yes... totally what I feel like when this happens. You would happily throw your pc out the window but on the other hand you can think logically and won't do that (thank God!), but you are very pissed of in the mean team.
I try using ctrl+a, ctrl+c (select all, copy) before I post something, this way I have a copy and can paste it over if I need too, but sometimes I do forget and you'll allways notice these are the times you loose you writing :S Cruel irony that is... :P

Frankly, it's been like this for quite some time now here in mylot. I just don't know if it is due to some connection problems or server error because I'm not so knowledgeable with troubleshooting or stuff like these.
But just like you said, it's very irritating and more often, I lose my interest in replying to discussions eventually. After some situations like these, I've come to a solution everytime I encounter this. Whenever I get disconnected, I make sure that I do copy my response before finally hitting the 'post response' option. This way, I still could paste my reply and proceed with responding to other discussions.
But just this morning, I used another computer here in the office and tried sending an e-mail message to the branch accountants in different locations through yahoo mail. I was not anticipating that there will be any problem so I proceeded with the usual process, not trying to copy my long message (actually a memo) before hitting the send button. To my dismay, all my message content got lost. So, I tried again but I almost flared up to discover that the same thing happened. I resorted to making an excel file and attaching the file instead. It worked finally.

It's happened to me not just once but several times. I don't know what causes it but it used to cause me grief and a frantic desire to recapture some eternally-important discussion. These days it doesn't much matter anymore. If it should happen again then I would just charge it to experience.

Thank you for sharing this. I guess if you've been around longer an have experienced it more you start to handle it better.
Good for you that it does not bother you that much anymore :)

It is very frustrating to be sure. My advice, once you have a high enough rating, is to use an external editor to type the post and paste it into the form on MyLot. I'm not sure why the board eats your posts, but I think it logs you out after a certain amount of time.

Its a time out problem. The webpage becomes inactive after some time and when you press Post Response it has to become active again and I think it refreshes the page. Before posting your reply, copy it just incase. Or perhaps stop writing such long replys and work on shorter more factual and descriptive sentenses which portray your veiws clearly.

Thank you for this tip. I have started using the copy function and it works really fine. Writing short, to the point replies is hard for me.
I have the same problem in school writing too long reviews and stuff... I'll try if I can make it a learning point here too. Have a good day.
