I happened on this via a group I am on - boy this could be a great "survival" thing to keep on hand or to have a Halloween time or any other night out time - fun for the kids to have and play and how about lining your walkway to your front door during a party or holiday time! Amazing what people come up with while in their kitchens! http://www.4shared.com/file/45118911/d5cd4b8a/make_your_own_glow_stick_with_mountain_dew.html?

I, too, checked out Snopes.com. It's a shame this isn't true. I did think it was pretty weird that with such a small amount of that guy's "solution" he was able to write his entire name with it! It just didn't add up. Your best bet is to buy glow sticks if that's what you want.

That sounds pretty neat. But. Check out this link... http://www.snopes.com/photos/food/mountaindew.asp They do it and it doesn't work. There is nothing radioactive in these products. It would have been very cool though! I was hoping........

As one person commented, it make you wonder what some people are drinking. However, although I did not go searching for it I do remember there was a fake video going around the internet on this topic. The security on my computer does not recommend that I download what you have on that link, so I cannot say for sure, but if it is the same "recipe" with hydrogen peroxide and baking soda added to the Mountain Dew, a number of people who tried it say it did not work, and my suggestion is do not try it, as people can get hurt playing around with chemicals. A neighbor boy lost his eye when he put vinegar and soda in a bottle and shook it. Not fun.

Wow! That is so cool! I'm adding Mountain Dew to my grocery list right now. Gotta try it. I sent the link to my kids, too. I'm guessing #1 son in Iraq may just have to try it. I'm going to have #2 son try it at my house. Thanks for sharing!

Oh now that is really weird. I wonder what is in the chemical composition of those few products that make it work like that? And I wonder if it is a dangerous combination?

That is so cool!!!! My husband the mad cientist would absolutely love this! ;-) I think his son, who is a chip of of the old block, would really enjoy this too. I'll enjoy watching them have so much fun ogether. I am definitely going to save this one.

Hmmm are you sure? It doesn't seem right somehow. I know I was not the best in chemistry class but I didn't fail either LOL DId you try it ? It would be cool but I'm not sure it will work. I can see why using the peroxide, but what's in the mountain dew with baking soda to make it glow? If you try it tell us how it worked, but I don't think it will glow. Maybe he added something else or already had it in the bottle.
