Maybe I should watch it longer to get the complete obbsetion with the daleks but i just dont get it

Actually, Doctor Who started out as a TV series, the first episodes were An Unearthly Child. The second set of episodes featured the Daleks, and were largely responsible for the shows' success. The films came later and were based on the TV series.
Incidentally, Bernard Cribbens, who currently plays Wilfred in the series, starred in one of the films.

I agree that the daleks are becoming the main evil threat and that there should be a variety of monsters but they do add alot to the show, as they remind of the doctors past and the war between the two races that caused the doctor to become the character as we know him.

I do like the Daleks, they're just plain nasty. They have been overused recently, they've appeared in three out of the last four series finales.
Back in the 60s and 70s the Daleks appeared a lot, but in the 80s they only appeared once (I think) for the last three Doctors, Davidson, Colin Bakes and McCoy. This was due to the licensing cost I believe.
