Is the internet getting ready to be taken over by Businesses for their own personal gain, and taking it away from the poeple?
I have looked into to this a bit. And found out that this could very possibly be true. At first I saw this link and wondered if it could possibly be a joke. See the video at the link below.
http://ipower.ning.com/netneutrality
After this I went to Youtube, and searched for net neutrality,
and found out this has been all over the news and some politicians were even talking about it.
According to the video, it describes this to happen by 2012.
But could be even before this time. Check out the video above and then check out the You tube Videos. Let me know what your take is on this. This could be one of the most important things to fight for.
Let me know what you think.

Is it? How do you know for sure? What if by any chance it isn't? Are we all just going to let it happen?
The whole part that makes the internet what it is. Is that it's free. Freedom of speech and freedom of expressing ourselves anyway we choose to.
If for any reason they decide to change this. Make it like a cable or satellite deal. We could loose everything we know and do online. Small sites will not stand a chance.
Will we let this happen?

The internet isn't free. How much do you pay a month for internet access? If they make packages it is to make up for all of the people stealing internet access via wireless connections. The money to pay employees doesn't magically appear in the bank. And there is maintenance involved. If everyone paid their share it would probably be less expensive and they wouldn't be looking for ways to make more money.

Hello astnusaresources,
It would be good if you could explain in more detail why you think "This is just HUHA!!!". You would also find you would earn more from myLot! There are usually two sides to every story. I don't know so much about this subject, but it sounds very probable that big business/ government would like to increase control of the internet/ make more money from it. But when you have experienced life for a bit, you usually find that if one thing gets more closed off, something else opens up more elsewhere - life tends to be like that; kind of ying-yan; things balance out...
Have a good one! Best wishes, Dreamhealer ;~) :~)

Hello Daninaband,
Yes, your title is somewhat dramatic. The internet being taken over OR the internet to end. These are two different things. On the face of it this discussion seems to be linked to the Mayan "end of time" on December 21st 2012. I haven't checked out any of the refs you have given, but have read about this a while back. What I read about was the possibility of the bigger companies getting wider "band width" to themselves and narrowing it for smaller businesses and individuals, so helping to strangle free speech. Or something very similar, along these lines.
My take is that it is good to campaign on these things and that that usually makes a difference, but I don't think I'm going to lie awake at night worrying about it. I like to do "my bit" at times/ contributing to good causes, but life for me is stressful enough, without getting to involved in these kinda things.
Anyway, good on you for bringing this threat to peoples' attention. :-)

I posted this up awhile back. lol It's kinda funny how it's just now getting attention. lol
For the most part. This is what they say. The end of the net would be major companies taking it over and using it for their own personal gain. Taking away the freedom of the net is taking away our freedom of speech. Let alone the rest of the freedoms we have on the net.
There is much more to this. But if your interested in checking it out. I'll be more the happy to post more.
