Floods

Read this, than see my comments below: FOLEY, Mo. (AP) - Once the Mississippi River starts to recede this week from another great flood, the tiny river towns that dot its banks in Missouri and Illinois will once again face the question: return and rebuild, or relocate? It's a tough choice in places like Foley, a hamlet of fewer than 300 people an hour's drive northwest of St. Louis. Normally, the Big Muddy swims by at a comfortable distance. But for the second time in 15 years, a wet winter bleeding into a wet spring pushed the river well past its banks, causing a summer flood that swamped dozens of low-lying houses and forced residents to flee. Barring any major storms, the river was expected to crest in St. Louis on Monday and Cape Girardeau in southeastern Missouri on Wednesday. okay, here is my comment: townsfolks pulled together to battle Mother Nature in the MidWest...and lost. Where was Al Sharpton or the other individual (name escapes me at this time) calling on the govt. for assistance...where was FEMMA?

Unfortunately, that's our government for you! Look at what happened during Katrina! It took a week for our great (????) and mighty president to do anything official about it. I really don't like saying it, but the past 4 years of the Bush administration have brought this country to the brink of a depression. It seems to be a crazy madhouse these days. You can't count on any assistance from our government any longer. I would love to know what the h#!*# is going on in Washington!!! Where is this going to end???

Its very chilling, and I feel that too, that the government is not for us and basically, against us if Bush would even have the slightest notion that we would wage another war with ANYBODY. While were here filling for Bush as the laughing stock of the world Bush is busy being the cowboy like some 7 year old, clearly that has to be dellusional--is he bipolar that he constantly in over his head and seemingly oblivious to the state of our economy that he would say that is never been better. Funny, reminds me of the Wells Fargo story just today of a woman being charged for her taxes in the amount of a penny. Anyways, word on the street is that Bush administration has plans to wage a war before the end of his administration and from the looks of Congress, even in bipartisanship, seemed strapped to do nothing.....(take a deep breath, calm breathes)

We (as a country) usually go to war when there is a depression, or an imminent one. I saw this coming awhile back myself. It's a pattern with our government. They screw us up as a country, then try to win back our trust by going to war, e.g. jobs, "victory gardens", tighting our belts for "the good of the country", blah blah blah, lie lie lie. That is the main reason my husband and I moved to the country... to get as far away from the mess our "wonderful" government has gotten us in and to be as self-sufficient as possible, using solar power, bartering, paying less taxes (doing my part to screw the government right back). I'm too old and sick to think about relocating to another country, so I'll just do my best to help my fellow man and screw the gov't out of whatever taxes I can. I am totally disabled, according to my doctors, but when I applied for Disability, it took Social Security four years to turn me down! I feel no allegiance whatsoever to this country. Have you ever noticed that when you owe income taxes, they'll come after you like a starving dog after a hunk of meat, tacking on interest and penalties, but if they owe you, they take their merry old time and never give you a penny in interest or penalties? Sorry, I had to vent. I get so angry with our government sometimes I feel like I'm going to burst!
