Dealing with end of life issues

Has anyone worked with Hospice? My partner is facing a decision of end of life. She has lived with ALS for 20 years now and is just plain tired. I support whatever decision she makes. Just wondering what Hospice purpose is and how they facilitate this issue for the ill? She is on a ventilator and has a feeding tube. ????
