The 4th of July festivities are upon us here in the USA. It is a celbration of our independance on July 4th 1776. Picnics, concerts, fireworks and other things planned in many cities and bussinesses. Well I am going to see if my daughter and my 2 grandsons want to go to the Horse races where i go ever so often. The 3rd of July is their fireworks spectacular. A full card of racing starting AT 7 P.M. THEN THE FIREWORKS AROUNF 9:50 OR SO. mY ELDEST LOVES FIREWORKS BUT THE YOUNGEST ONE IS NOT ALL THAT THRILLED WITH THEM. mY WIFE WORKS TILL 10 OR 11 EACH NIFGT SO SHE WON'T BE ABLE TO SEE THEM THIS YEAR ONCE AGAIN SO i HOPE TO TAKE MY DAUGHTER AND GRANDSONS. i'VE SEEN A FEW CITIES DISPLAYS ALREADY AND WILL SEE MORE. wHERE DO YOU GO TO SEE FIREWORKS IN YOUR AREA AND OR COUNTRY? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That sounds like a wonderful plan GRANDPA BOB. Here in the BAHAMAS we will also be celebrating our independence on the 10th of July. We're a young nation, as we became independent from BRITIAN in 1973. So there's alot going on here as well,we always have a big fireworks display at Fort Charlotte.

I hate crowds, hate bad traffic and I don't like loud noises, so I'm taking a pass on fireworks, just like I have almost every year since the late '70's.

It probably doesn't help that I've seen 2 firework shows where the finales have gone off on the ground. The first one had one person injured - not badly - and the second had as its only injury some hearing loss by the guy who was in the bunker setting off the "bombs."

The fireworks here where I live are some of the best in the state. It's only a couple of blocks from my home and I can actually watch them from a second story bedroom window....everything that is except for the grand finale! Our parade is on the 3rd. And hopefully my daughter in law and granddaughter will come and see it with me.....we only have to walk a block! Last year the parade just started and the sirens went off and a terrible storm came that dumped tons of rain! We probably got to see five units of the parade! Hopefully this year will be better!

It sounds like a lot of fun, but why did you have to shout about it? (All the caps!) I always admire the USA for the way that it can turn everything into such a celebration and make so much fun out of everything. Something that I think the Brits are not known for, fun rather a reserved bunch.

My fat finger hits the cap lock key ever so often. I did not feel like retyping it all. Sorry for that though. Yes you Brits are pretty much a laid back type of people. Thanks. Sorry again for the shouting. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

hi grandpa bob wow the fourth is almost here, I will watch about three different cities fireworks from my front patio as this year I am just too handicapped to go sit on the grass at our local high school, once down I would never be able to get up as I have still not regained the use of my left arm after two years and a lot of p.theraphy,I had to have shoulder joint replacement and let me say its not as good as your own parts, I had a fall and had smashed my shoulder bones so badly they could not be set.well so now I cannot get down on the floor or if I did I would have the devil of a time getting back up.one needs both arms. but I will see the fireworks just fine.

My city is too big and I have too many trees etc around too see other cities firreworks shows from my yard. I can climb my roof and se any that are set off from the Blaine Soprts Center where there are 3 or 4 shows a year shot from there. Yikes! If that happened to me I'd be done with gardening. EEEK! The last time i went to the Island to see the fireworks my youngest daughter was about 2y/o (she is 26now) it rained, she screamed and screamed and kept screaming, (she hated rain on her head) of course there was no shelter that we could get to so we could get her out of it, so we and everybody we passed had to listen to her the entire 3 miles back to the car! Then it took almost 6hrs. to get off the Island in the 100degree muggy heat. I said that year that if we got off without me killing her or somebody killing us all (half of the people there was drunk and i know they didn't sober up before getting behind the wheel) i wouldn't be going back to either Island for fireworks. And i never have! If they want to have fireworks here thats fine but i just hate being in a crowd that is so dense that it takes 15mins. to move 3foot.

Hi GRANDPA BOB! Happy Independence Day to you and your countrymen! i think that it will be a very joyous event for your country as it is a joyous and momentous event too when we celebrate our own independence day too. There are also fireworks and a lot of celebrations in the streets whenever we celebrate ours. I am sure yours will be grander too! Take care and God Bless!

I know that there is a fireworks show in a nearby town every year. I am not sure if I am going to take the kids to it or if we will just set off a few fireworks back on the patio. My son loves the fireworks displays, so he will probably convince me to take him into town to see that one. I think the baby will get a kick out of them too. Last year she was too little to appreciate them.

When we lived in MO, we always went to a display at the country club that was put on by the local merchants - we took the grandsons every year for a long time - at least until they decided that they wanted to go to Six Flags instead. We moved to ND last fall, and I think most of the towns, even the smaller ones, have displays on the night of the 4th.

I don't know if I'll go this year. People around here buy fireworks and set them off in nearly every neighborhood before and after the 4th. My dogs shiver and hide while this is happening, usually want on my lap so my evenings are spent comforting my buddies. On the 4th it'll be even worse and I don't feel like leaving them to be scared all alone.

Buster isn't bothered by the npise or flashes. I have set off the high shooting type of fireworks in my yard and he just sits on the porch doing nothing really. Any fireworks that shoot into the air are illegal in Minnesota so we can only shoot off sparkler types. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

You know what makes me crazy? We live in a apartment and I have to listen to fireworks every night a week before the 4th. Its making me crazy because we have to sleep but theres people outside yelling and blowing crap up. so annoying. Its illegal in washington state to use fireworks before the 4th. thats the only day its even legal.

We have a park locally that has a "lake" in the middle. Our volunteers and firefighters go to one side of the lake, at the ball diamond parking lot, and set off our display, spectators then spread out all over the park. On the other side, a safe distance away, a local church encourages people to park and view there. They run concessions for the fundraisers for their youth group. I can see quite a bit of it from my house as well. Have fun, but be safe.

We usually stay home, we don't live far from Stone Mountain Park and they always do some big 4th of July tribute, but seeing how I grew up literally down the street from the park and having worked there as a teen, I know better than to try to go on holidays. There's always so many people and the traffic leaving is horrible, although with gas prices this year, I bet it won't be too crowded. We usually stay home and have friends over or go to their homes for cookouts, sometimes fireworks are involved but not always. It's still fun just hanging out with friends and family. We try to get all of our children to come but they usually have othr plans...it's hard when your children grow up...

We used to go to town to see fireworks let off on top of a mall building. We have not done that for years. We used to go down by the river also and watch them let off. We stopped doing that also since we moved away to the country. We just buy a few ourselves and let off now.

I live in a very small town of roughly 800 people. Our Canada day is July 01 which happens to fall on a Tuesday this year. We have a pancake breakfast put on bt legion hall from 7-10 am. We have a very small parade go through the town at 10 am. At 12:30 they're going to have a baby crawl race which is something they just stared this year. At 1 pm a young girl is going to play the fiddle, I was told she's really good. We have a local band that play and sing country music which happens at 4 pm. There's food and drink all day on the grounds and something for everyone, The elderly love to play bingo and only costs 5 cents a card. Other events include mixed slo pitch tournament, horseshoe tournament, tractor race, bean bag race, childrens races, and goodness knows what else. The big excitement is the fireworks which takes place at 11 pm and for a small town I have to say they do very well. Our fireworks is really very nice. It has always been my dream to see the fourth of July fireworks nin the U.S. I am told it's something to see. Happy indepenance Day. Have a safe and happy holiday!!!

That sounds like a lot of fun you have planned. We have just missed a few fireworks show here in our city for one reason or another. Last year they were cancelled due to weather so we went outside the city limits and bought our own and took our grandson to see them and we had fun. He is not here this year he will be in New York with his parents watching the Macy's Fireworks show. We don't have far to go to see the fireworks, just maybe 15 to 20 minutes to get downtown to the water. I love fireworks but will miss seeing them this year since I am dog sitting for my daughter and our dog will just be two days out of surgery so will stay home and watch New Yorks' fireworks show.

There is a huge fireworks display near us every year, but it's gotten so big that we typically avoid that one and go to our town's local display. They shoot off the fireworks over the lake, and it's pretty easy to find a spot overlooking on any side. Unfortunately, we haven't gone the past few years because my kiddos go to their dad's for most of the month of July. Next year, though, that's OUR weekend! Yay! Hope you had a great time!
