toilet seat,lid why oh why

can anyone tell me why,(in particular men,),why do they put the lid down on the toilet... How many times I leave going for a pee to the last moment and find the lid down,and I am nearly bursting I do ask the male side of the house and they do not really know but still do it!!!!!!!!!

LOL,,,famous last words,,just like no one finished the loo paper and left the cardboard roll for the next person

I am a man and all of my female friends tell me that it is proper to put the lid down on the toilet when not in use. Especially if there are pets in the house that might drink water from the toilet. First you train us to put the lid down and now you are trying to retrain us to leave it up. Please make up my mind for me.
