Every November's the National Novel Writing Month, where you (and thousands of others) challenge yourself to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days.
Tried it a couple of times, most I've managed is about 20,000 words before real life became too busy and kicked it in the head, but I'm definitely trying again this year.
If you've never heard of it, check out http://nanowrimo.org/

Yes, I am. I've already won twice. None of my novels have real endings and they're mainly 50,000 words of crap, but I love doing it. It's about the only time I'm not paralyzed by writer's block. Probably because I don't care if what I write during Nanowrimo is any good or realistic or even makes sense.

I have heard of this before. Several people at my high school did this while taking college level courses. It was very difficult some nights to get their homework done AND write the necesary allotment of words, but they had alot of fun writing it, and a major sense of accomplishment after finishing. I may try it this year if I am not too busy.

My husband has done several books this way (before we married). However in the three years we have been married life has been too hard for such things. Now we have a two year old and it doesn't seem likely either of us will be able to do it with him around...
Maybe next year!

I've always wanted to enter and try to write a 50,000 word novel. Unfortunately, I don't know if I'm going to have the time this year. I'm sure I'm going to be busy with school, especially since I'm trying to graduate in December. Hopefully everything will run smoothly though and I can actually give it a shot this year.
