I went to put something back on the bookshelf, and found dust that has probably been there for the past year. My room has always been somewhat straightened. The problem is, I have a lot of stuff that I do not use, and a lot of stuff that could go into the place where I am storing them. I will probably give up halfway through the day, but I am going to try to straighten this room up and clean it well. Anyone else doing some deep-cleaning lately?

No but I hope to be very soon. I would like to straighten everything in the whole place, but all is pretty much where it's supposed to be. What I really want to clean out is the walk-in closet. You know the one we can't walk in to anymore. LOL Seriously, I want to get this done with. It seems like such a huge project but I have the ambition that you do and you have encouraged me to get going with this. Thank you. Take care.

I am glad to hear that you are encouraged to get it done. C:
Yeah, I have a closet that I should be able to at least sit in (it is not walk-in, exactly, but it has more room than a regular closet) but there is a broken chair in there, and some other things. I might leave the closet for another day. Thank you for responding, and good luck with your cleaning!

My 18 month old daughter was in FL for the past week and a half so I took the time to do the deep cleaning that I don't normally get to do since she has to be involved in every thing. I did it all. From cleaning the carpets to washing off the walls.
I took every thing out of her play room and cleaned every toy every shelf every every thing in there. I put every thing back thinking to myself shes gonna end up sick its so clean in here!
I did my living room - taking every thing out cleaning the carpets, washed the walls off. Put only things I want back in there in the room. The rest of the stuff went to the yard sale pile.
I did my dining room from top to bottom. Along with doing a really good polish on all my wood furnature. I cleaned the pictures on the walls, the carpet and rug. The windows and all. Then put all my yard sale stuff in that room. It doesn't get used very often so the stuff is out of the way.
My husband did the kitchen. From top to bottom. Every thing even the stove. That room is the cleanest it has ever been!
Then I did the kids rooms - cleaning carpts, washing the walls and windows. I clean up all there little messes and the rooms are spotless. (Until they come home)
I did our bedroom too. Moved furniture and cleaned out the closet. More yard sale stuff!
I knew that if I didn't do all this while she was gone it would be a while before it did get done. Its refreshing to have it all done. Now the kids will be home tomorrow and yeah it will all go to helll again LOL. Oh well it goes with having kids!

Oh my, I would love if I could get the house THAT clean. That must have been a lot of work. I am glad that you were able to get all of that done. And yes, it will probably be messy again an hour after they get there. There is some sort of phenomenon about a clean room. It cannot stay clean for long and, somehow, it becomes messy and disorganized just by sitting in there. Thank you for responding.

Its funny my daughter is in FL and my dad had her all to himself one of the days. He called me at the end of the day and said how did the house get so messy! We didn't do any thing but normal daily routine things! I told him its the joys of having a toddler in the house. You don't have to do anything for it to get messy! Its the ghost "george"! My older kids have ghost friends that mess things up LOL. George leaves the toys out and Heather puts the plates and cups back on the table! They have quite an imagination!
Good luck cleaning your place. Its hard work but some times it just has to get done. I think I was able to do it because 1 it kept me preoccupided while the kids were gone and 2. I am having a yard sale to get rid of all the crap I have in my house so maybe I'll make some money!

"Ghosts," haha! That is very interesting. Yes, just having kids around can be messy. Somehow my room gets messy, and I never leave the one corner of it. As I said, it is some sort of phenomenon. I cannot imagine what I am going to do when I have a house of my own and people living in it.

Same thing happens to me. I usually clean my place monthly and I occasionally sweep the floor but I just happen to have lots of stuff too that acculumates dusts. I don't know about you but I just can't seen to throw away, or give away my books and small things. They hold special memories or I keep thinking that I might need them still. So I usually to a very detailed or deep-cleaning every year. I try to give away as much as I could but I always seem to have many things left. I hope you straighten you room well. Happy cleaning. ~

Ah, we have the same problem then. I have three or four books that I am keeping because if my sister plans on finishing high school, then she will need them for year 12. And then I have a lot of manga, and then regular books that I have either read a long time ago, or have yet to read. So far, I have managed to dust off and straighten one of the bookshelves. Now to the other...

I feel yeah, My room is a disaster. Like a tornado hit it. My puppies seem to help me out if you count taking stuff out of the room. But when I'm done rearranging things and get rid of some stuff, it's going to look like a party room. Lots of space and extra stuff in the closet. And no I will not let a couple make in it. xD
But yeah, I was doing some deep cleaning... just to find my roll of hemp string. Then I got sick, and now I haven't done it....yet.

That is the way mine was this morning. I think that I really put a dent in the way it was. Both bookshelves are clean, and there is a lot of dust that is not in the room anymore. I even took the vacuum cleaner (the one with the hose) and went around a few of the edges of the walls and picked some extra up. I am glad that you are going to have extra room when you get done with your cleaning. I wish I could say the same. I have so much stuff in here!
