Dear Nona1337,
I read your discussion and it was pretty short and to the point. I wish that my answer would be as short, because if you get bored that quickly and lost the job, it's going to be difficult for you to pay attention long enough to finish my answer to you.
I think the point here has nothing to do with the job. Yes, it was probably very boring. Contrary to popular belief, however, most people work in very boring jobs. I, am one of those people that has a job that can be amazingly wonderful and rewarding. I also have a job that can, at times, be very boring. I stay at home with three children. Sometimes it's boring because I take care of the house for a good portion of the day. Cleaning, scrubbing, cooking, baking, folding laundry... It can tedius and mind numbing, but I still do it, because I have to and no one else will.
The point I am trying to make here, is we all need money to live. We all need a clean house to live in. We all need food and clothing and other things. Grow up! Be an adult for once. If the job you had was going to put food on the table or pay for your apartment or house, or pay for your utilities, or even if it was to pay for your clothing, you needed it. It sounds to me, from your short post, that you got fired for falling asleep or not taking the job seriously enough, or complaining too much. Grow up! We all have to do things we don't want to do. Most of us will never get our dream occupation. Do what you need to do in order to make enough money to do what you want to do. In other words, if you work Monday through Friday from 9AM to 5PM, do it, and than on Saturday do what you want to do, go to the beach or go dancing or whatever. And during work time, work. Sorry to be blunt but it's time to take responsibility and to do what you need to do.
Carla

Wow, this is probably the shortest employment time I've ever heard of. Only five hours? Something very drastic must have happened in order for it to end so quickly. Were you missing some qualifications? Was the job not what the job description said it was? Were you going to get paid less than was agreed upon? Was the supervisior a jerk?
There are so many questions. I hope you get back to us and let us know what happened so that we can either point out suggestions to you, or otherwise commiserate on how sucky jobs can be. :P

I agree with the first response. If you didn't like the job ,why bother to work there? Just quit.

That's really too bad. Why did you get fired, they usually give you a reason. Try to do the best you can to not get discouraged but get a job that you're really interested in and learn from this experience so that it will not happen again. Good luck on your job search and here at MyLot. Take care.

The thing is you got fired, it could have been more honorable if you resigned. Anyways, I resigned from previous job too, last May. I am currently jobless right now and definitely struggling to live. I resigned because for the same reason, but I lasted for three months and the difference is I resigned. I wasn't fired. Being fired is different it could have been you boss saw you sleeping or doing nothing.

What was the job?? What did you do that you got fired after 5 hours? It seems like your previous employers had a really short temper! In Texas we have this right-to-work thing, where your employer can fire you for any reason at anytime and it doesn't matter if you're in the right or wrong or whatever. I've never had to sign up for un-employment but I have different thoughts about that because it gets abused a lot.
