India has to think for the 2011 world cup and keeping that thing in mind the has to be selected. One thing is for sure, that neither Rahul Dravid nor Saurav Ganguly are continue till the world cup. So there is no point of picking them up for the one dayers, but they still can serve the country by playing in test matches. Indian selectors must try to bring more and more youngsters into the team and by 2011 a complete team of about 16 will be ready for the world cup and they woul have played at least 50 one dayers by that time.

Hey mlaxman I think you are right Indian cricket team is heading for new direction with youngsters. I think in the present definition of cricket we need youngsters who have potential, who can swiftly run and who can stretch their body . In my opinion present team which is currently played in Asia cup is balanced team. There should be consistency. We have seen lots of t20 games in IPL and these young players are really excellent. I am not against veteran seniority should be acknowledged . Though dada's performance in the ODI is quite impressive but still he is not able to cope up with the present situation. Sachin is suffering from various injuries. Rahul is also not fit to play ODI, hence these trio should voluntarily resign from the cricket.

Direction in which Indian cricket is going is of course commendable, what with youngsters like suresh raina, yusuf pathan.... But one must remember the defeat inflicted upon the Indian team by a mediocre Pakistan team in a recent final! Then again, one should not forget the contribution made by Sachin Tendulkar when in Australia. I think Indian team will be still better with the in-form and experienced alrounder dada, who is still a few years of cricket left in him. And,of course, no one can replace Sachin, the Bradman! There is of course no place for rahul in odi cricket.

I think its the right decision by selectors in giving younsters a chance. Infact the selectors have now created an atmosphere where only performers will stay in the team. This has created a very healthy competition amongst players.

Ya i agree with you that dada and rahul served for many years but it is not this way that they served for long time and have the place in the team for ever. Now players better than them are in the side so there is no reason for them to come back and in ODI fielding does matter a long so talking rest is better for them.
