Do you have any terrifying experiences with snakes?
I was digging in my flowers one day. I was moving some baby ferns and had one in my hand. I looked down and there in my hand was a baby snake about the size of a worm. I almost died! My heart started beating rapidly and I threw the fern, snake and garden tool down and ran! It really shook me up. You can tell I hate snakes of any kind of size.
Another time,I was riding the lawnmower in our front yard under the trees. I looked around and coming at me was this big round snake, not all that long, but scary looking. Looking back, I know I looked crazy, but I threw my feet upon the front of the lawnmower and let go of it while it was still running. It ran right over the snake and cut it to pieces. It is a wonder that one of them didn't hit me.If it had, I would probably have died, or at least fainted from fright. I was screaming at the top of my lungs and my husband heard me from where he was working in the yard. He just had himself a good laugh!

Oh gosh, snakes. Where do you live in order to have snakes in your garden so often. I am afraid of snakes too and if I ever saw a snake in my backyard that would be the last time I ever do any more garden work.
Even if I dreamed of snakes ,I wake up scared already .

I live in Alabama. We have lots of woods around us and small creeks running through our property. We don't see that many with a dog around, and we have one again right now. I worry about them more around the water and near the barn when the grandsons ride the 4 wheeler and 3 wheeler. They are 12 1/2 and 14 1/2 and you can't tell them enough not to get off around tall grass or the water. They are boys! I don't think they have ever seen but one here, though. They have lots of woods on their property, too, but they've always had dogs, so they haven't seen any snakes there that I know of.
I do not like to watch snakes on television or I will dream about them.

Snakes are the scaries for me, no legs and they move so quick.
there is an old saying in our country, "Plant a lemon tree, and snakes won't come around".
So many homes will have two lemon tree left and right in front of the house to repel the snakes.
I am not superstituous, but what the heck. I planted them because I am too scared of them.
Don't know if it is true, but they say snakes hate the scent of lemon or the scent produced from the leaves or something.

Living in Arizona I've had several close encounters with Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes and they can be a little frightening. The closest I had ever been was when my sister and I were hiking. We had just stopped for a drink of water and we heard the rattle. I looked down and saw the rattler about a foot away from us. He was coiled, rattling and pretty upset that we were that close. Luckily we didn't get bit but it shook us up for the rest of the hike.
