Forest Fires

I live about 100 miles away from almost 500 fires raging in Northern California right now. The smoke is so massive that it's flowed into where I live, and a thick haze has fallen over my area, even though we're not even that close to the fires. When the sun set last night, it was a red orb in a thick yellowish haze. I felt like I was on Tatooine or something. The smell was awful too. Today, the haze is a bit lighter, but it still looks terrible.
Does anybody else have experiences with forest fires that they'd like to share?

No, I have never been near a forest fire and I hope and pary I never will. I feel sorry for you, I hope it will not afferct you. I feel so bad for all the people that have lost their homes.
