A couple of weeks ago I started a discussion about the lawmakers pay raise here in Louisiana. At first they was going to give themselves a 300% pay raise hike, then they lowered it to 200%. During that time the Gov. had made it clear that he would not veto it. He said he would not veto it because he will want them to pass his bills, basically you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours.
Well, today Gov. Jindal has announced that he veto the pay raise bill for lawmakers. I think he only veto it because just a few days ago two citizens filed a petition to recall Gov. Jindal. I was so ready to sign that petition too. I'm not sure if they will still go ahead with it, but I think they should. There are also a few lawmakers that are getting recalled as well, because the parish they represent was fed up that they voted for the pay raise.
Its just a mess here at Louisiana State Capital. 9 members on the ethics board has resigned and one of the top administrators under Jindal has resigned.
Don't get me wrong, the lawmakers do deserve a pay raise but definitely not a 200% pay raise, maybe a normal percentage like the citizens get.

Wow, what a raise that would be, too bad that all the regualar citizans did not get that amount as well, then we would not all be feeling the crunch that we now are. This is what is wrong with the world today, they wrong people are getting all the large raises!!As they say, the rich get richer the poor get poorer!! I am very glad this has been vetoed. Thank goodness they finally listened to what the people had to say.

I'm glad that the citizens are taken a stand and not putting up with this. Theres just so much corruption in politics. And there was rumors about a month ago that McCain might choose Gov. Jindal as his running mate. I don't think he will choose him now.
