I don't believe online relationship to be reliable at all. I mean people these days are just horrible. They feel like they can do everybody wrong in some way or have has many was they want. Even though there maybe a few out there that are truly decent but the rest of them ruins it for the good ones. But that's how it usually is in life. One rotten apple ruins the whole bunch. Hopefully, things will begin to evolve and people decide that online isn't the best unless you've met and are now keeping in touch through the internet.

Personally I don't like the idea of online relationships especially if you dont know them in real life. And as for long distance relationships They work for some people but not everyone.

Mind if I only talk about online relationship? It's because I'm really not into it, and I don't want my family, friends, and relatives to be engaged in such relationship either. For once, it's not reliable. When some people found their one true love online, others found their wrath and misfortunes in online relationships. Some are lucky enough to find a suitable partner, but most are unfortunate to find fake people online.
Why do I say so? Because it's already been proven. Two of my cousins found their partners online. One is lucky enough that her partner went in their hometown, just to marry her. Another one is, well, unfortunate. She found a companion a lot older than her (even older than my father), met with him, and got pregnant. Now he can't marry my cousin because he's already married.
So I would say, don't trust everything that we find online. Not everything is trustworthy.

no. I think if they do not visit each other a lot or at least communicate like crazy then its doomed! To really know someone you got to be with them in person too!

These kinds of relationship can be just a good as in person relationships if you and the other person BOTH treat the relationship as you would if it was a in person relationship. I have known alot of ppl keep these kinds of relationships going for a long time and end up marrying eachother. So yes I do believe they can be trustworthy and reliable.

Online relationship is the most unreliable as you don't know for real what that person is like and they don't always tells you the truth.
There are heaps of pedophile on net preying on teenage girls. I think online relationship suits more for middle-age women?! Because they are mature enough to know what they are doing.
Distant relationship is a bit better than online relationship as I assume you already see the face of your partner and know him/her. However, because distant can sometimes strain the relationship, therefore I don't think it's reliable.
I have heard good and bad stories from my friends on distant relationship. So, don't let distant relationship discourage you from continuing a relationship as it relies heavily on communication

distant relationship is really almost impossible i think it is not really easy to stay on a relationship with a person you could not spend your time with every day. and you just communicate through internet and emails and ym. that is hard and sometimes or most of the time that kind of relationship fails.
