Truth or dare

July 1, 2008 12:03am CST
Its summer and your darling beloved daughter has just finished her term at school. She and a couple of her friends have invited a couple of boys over and they have pitched a tent up in the back yard. Its getting late and when you finally step outside to listen it sounds like a game of `Truth or dare` is going on,with that one of the couples step outside and head for the bushes. There mates left inside the tent, that includes your daughter are in fits of laughter .OK what are you going to do???

This would make me very uncomfortable, ella1bella - but you don't say how old these young people are. I think I would react differently if they were 12 to the way I would if they were 18. I think it's natural they'd end up playing silly games like Truth or Dare, but I think it would be sensible for you to make your presence known, and give them the impression you are keeping an eye on things and will be doing so at intervals during the night.

Yes Gy thats a good outlook on the problem,as I said to the above post I think maybe that I would go out and pop my head around the tent flap and offer some kind of goodies to them, that id accidentally forgotten to give them earlier. They would maybe then realise that their behaviour was being watched a bit.As you point out the games that involve that bit of daring are bound to be played and as we were teenagers once im sure that like me you played them too.But I would definately have to go into the bushes and see what was happening there, but im not too sure what the excuse would be,maybe there would be a message to give to one of them,so I could call into those bushes and wrn them of my impending appearance.

ella1bella I am going to find out what the hell is going on with the couple in the bushes then check on my darling daughter as this whole thing seems to be getting out of hand, in the dark in a tent with a couple of boys, get real this is an explosive situation for young people.

Yes Hatley you are totally right in what you say,its a ptentially explosive situation and it couldnt be left to the teenagers judgement. At that age we all seem to think that we know best.I know full well that I did,and im sure that I am not alone.Saying that I think that I would maybe stick my head around the tent flap and offer them some kind of treats that I had accidentally forgotten to give to then earlier, maybe this way it would make them realise that they were being watched and curb their recklessness a bit.Thankyou for your comments Hatley

Hi , I think most times if the kids are younger truth and dare are usually harmless , and acting silly . If they are teens it might be I dare you to flash so and so , or kiss so and so . Most times it should be ok , but then again I would wanna know . Think age is big factor

I am not sure I would let that happen. I am not sure how old your daughter is but I Think its good for mixed groups like that to stay out in the open so they can be suppervised! But in your case I would get my daughter and have her yell for her friend, then I would drop them off at home!
