What would happen when all the petroleum reserve is depleted?

I am very concerned about the skyrocketting petroleum prices. Why the price is increasing in this way? Will all petroleum reservers going to be used up soon. Have the scientists found alternate source of energy? What would happen if all petroleum exhaust in the next ten years? Can imagine a world without cars, aeroplanes, etc.?
