What should I do???? Duh...do you even need an answer

I don't claim to have figured it all out because Lord knows that I'm a mess in certain areas but something that I can't understand is why do people ask for advice when they know they should do the "right" thing. For instance...I read a discussion a few weeks ago where a girl found out the man she was seeing was married. She also found out that in addition to her he was seeing another girl. So if you do the math he's seeing 3 people total. He also has kids by his current wife and the other mistress. So in the discussion she asks "what should I do"? WHAT????? Are you kidding me? Another one is a woman is seeing a married man. Well his wife happens to be her best friend. Again in the discussion the poster asked "what should I do"? I don't understand why there should even be the question. If a person truly respects themself why would they want to stay in a situation like that. And for the best friend to even ask if she should continue to see her friends hubby what kind of person would find that ok? I just don't get it.
