When i was a Young Girl, about 11 years old I was at my grandpas house. I went up to the neighbors and their dog was chained on the porch. I pet the dog, as I had so mant times in the past. It was a cocker spanial. Then I knocked on the door to see if my friends were home.Nobody answered the door. So when I turned to leave. Out of nowhere when I got to the end of the porch, the dog just latched onto my leg and bite me. I was in shock. I could not believe that this dog did that to me for no reason. I had always played with it, with my friends. I got away, jumped over the banister and ran home. My face was white as a sheet and blood was everywhere. Well, I had to get 4 stitches in my leg.Have you ever been bit by a dog?

Yes I have been biten by a dog. When I was about 6 I was at the baby sitter house and her friends came over with their dog. I was sitting in the chair watching television and it jumped up in the chair and bit my arm, on the inside by my elbow. I had to go and get 6 stiches. I still have the scar from it. I was so afraid of little dogs for some time after that since I have no idea why the dog bit me. I wasn't doing anything at all except sitting down.

wow/ now thats different. that dog musta been crazy. most dogs bite either if your coming into their domain or teasing them or just playing they bite by accident. i've been bitten many times but never by my own dogs.

I too still have my scar on my lrg. I bet you were terrified when this dog attacked you. These little dogs are way worse than large dogs as far as I am concerned, they are very high strung. You do not have to do aqnything to them, for them to attack them, I did not do anything to this one either.

Fortunately I have never been bitten by a dog. But occasionally the dogs will bark at me as I am a stranger. I am scared of that as I am afraid to be bitten. My family tells me if a dog barks at me, and I shall bend down and pretend to pick up a stone. Then the dog will be afraid and run away. I haven't tried it yet. As my first response is the run:)

I wouldn't recommend running. It engages their instinct to chase. The best thing to do is walk away slowly and not make eye contact. Making eye contact with an agressive dog can trigger an attack.

This is true, you should not ever run, just keep a steady pace, do not look at the dogs, do not act like you are scared.

Hi There,
That is too bad that you had to have that experience. I think it certainly illustrates the point that even with pets you just never know what they will do. I have been bit by a dog before as well. I was on a run one day and a German Shepherd came out of nowhere and attacked me. I ended up fighting him off before his owner ran out to get him. I too ended up getting some stitches.
cheers,

Yes i was bit when i was 12 yrs old. I had a paper route that i always went out to do on my Bike. There was a house that i passed and the kids use to tease me and tell the dog to attack me..of course it never did cuz they had him in the fenced yard. However one day i was riding by, and here comes the dog (the kids werent aroudn) he got me on the right side of my right leg and went tore right through my pant leg. I somehow managed to get home and when i got my aunt to take me back to the house to let them know what happened noone was home and the dog wasnt in the yard or in the house from what we could tell. So since we didnt know i the dog had its shots, i had to go to the E.R and get checked out and possilby get the shots, but we ended up getting in contact with the owners and he had his shots thankfully. I was afraid of dogs for many yrs after, big small or in between. Now they dont bother me so much, but i still think back to that every now and then.

Yes, I was bit once. There was this little dog that would jump over his fence and attack passersby. I reported him because he was terrorizing my daughter as she walked to school. One day I was walking by when the dog jumped his fence and attached himself to my leg. He didnt bite too hard, but it broke the skin and I had to get a tetanus shot. The dog's owner was amazed, because this time he had seen it happen. He apologized and made sure the dog never did it again.

yeah I got bitten by my neighbor's dog when I was around 10 yrs. old. My playmates and I are running around and then I ran as far as I could to the point that I reached my neighbor's house where they had a sinister dog who almost bites everyone he sees. Unfortunate of me, I was one of them and I was bitten in my buns. It really hurts!

I went to go visit my Husband's Uncle. He had a cute little chihuahua. I leaned down to pet him because he was just so cute. As soon as my hand got near him he bit me! He was sooo viscious for being so tiny. I was so shocked, that tiny little dog scared the crap out of me.

Unfortunately yes. I used to volunteer at a dog shelter and after I had cleaned out their pens I used to take each dog out into an exercise yard to play. The staff there had placed dogs together that were compatible; and some dogs were alone in a cage. What I was NOT told by the staff is that one of the dogs did not like having a lead put on them; so when I tried to put the collar and lead on the dog to take it for exercise it of course went ballistic and attacked me. It bit me all over my legs mainly and if I had not of had jeans on it may have been a lot nastier than what it was. The worse part was having to get tetanus needles etc at the Doctor's office rather than being bitten itself! Thankfully I didn't need stitches like you did but it was still a bit of a scare for me and made me realise first hand how unpredictable dogs can be.

I have'nt got bit from dogs. I am afraid when pets like them are not mine. I usually avoid it. I love dogs but I do not play with them when they are off guard. They have the tendency to be wild when owners are not around and will attacked strangers. They protect home from what they seem stranger to them.

When I was 4 I fell out of the swing I was on and accidently landed on the neighbors dog who was sleeping. The dog bit me on the hand pretty bad, and the doctors were afraid they might end up amputating four of my fingers. Luckily they are fine and I don't even have any scars. When my son was 16 he cut thru someones yard and their dog bit him on the butt. I was out of town at the time and told him how to handle it, who to call etc. I then bought him a pair of underwear with a dog's but picture on the back side of them. I used paint and drew a bullseye on the back with the words "bite me." LOL He didn't see the humor in the situation.
Dogs are animals, and can be unpredictable. I have three dogs and rarely am ever scared by any dog.

I was once bit by a dog when I was in high school. It happened one morning on my way to school. I took that path every day and had met that dog many times. He was a very small dog, kind of cute. I did expect him to bite me. However on that day he did it. At first he was just following me, sniffing my legs. I did't take that searious and yelled at him. And then he got angry and bit me on the leg. Of course I had to skip that day's classes and went to hospital instead. Anyway it was not a happy experience.

I have been bit by a dog when I was about five. I had spilled some chips on the floor and our dog started to eat them up off the floor. SO I went over and started to pull on his tail. Man he turned around and bit the crap out of my eye. Had to get a butterfly on my eye.
