Has anyone ever had a negative discussion tag? I went to one of my discussions and was shocked to see a tag on it that struck a chord with me. I really can't go into details on it, but I felt that it was directed at me and not the discussion. Is there a way to get a tag removed from a discussion? Has anyone else experienced this?

Wow, that's a pretty bad thing to happen to you and I'm really sorry that it did. Not sure whether you should report this to the mylot staff (it's totally up to you really), but if you think it's a serious matter then you should. Well, from my knowledge about how mylot works, for a certain discussion there can only be a maximum of 5 tags and any additional tags added by other users will not be added to the discussion after that. So, if you want to avoid this sort of thing happening, always insert 5 tags to your discussion when you start one, and nobody else can add any other tags after that. You can try it and see how it goes. If you do this all the time, no one can attack you with those added tags anymore. I found that most people who get unnecessary tags for their discussions are those that don't bother to put tags onto their discussions, which enable other users to add any other tags that they like, even if it's not about the discussion at all. PS: As an example, you added 5 tags to this discussion already. Hence, no one else can add anymore tags to it. You can check it out by commenting on someone's response, and when the page that asks you to insert tags appears, try and insert some tags and see whether it comes up in your discussion.

Hello Hmmmmm, I tried it and you were right. They both had the same first three tags but the second two were entirely different from eachother. I wonder how that is, and does it change everytime?

To Hmmmmmmm: Well, I guess I was wrong then....but it's the learning process over here on mylot, so I don't have any regrets.... Thanks for clarifying and correcting by the way.....

Personally, I don't think that the people who respond to the discussions should be allowed to add extra tags. After all, it was the person who started the discussion who best understands the point they're trying to make. But then again, I am new so perhaps I just don't know what I'm talking about. Haha. Though the "add tags" page that comes up whenever I try to post a response is really annoying. Is there any way to turn that off?

Adding tags is a good thing. It puts your discussion or answer on the internet "map". Which just means that search engines can pick it up...that is if it anything like metatags.

I only made one negative discussion tag and it was a long time ago. A member was talking about bombs and how to make them and also some threats in the discussion. I believe the member is now gone and think the discussion was deleted. No way myLot would let that one get through. I have no idea if there is a way to get a tag removed but I wouldn't think so. Did you contact myLot administration? I know they don't answer my emails. I had a discussion tagged last week when I was discussing an afghan I was making for my grandbaby which will arrive in November. It was inappropriate but now realize how it happened. Still don't know who put it there!

I don't pay all that much attention to the tags on my discussions. Its sad that people would put rude tags in a discussion. I have heard of this before so you are not alone.

No haven't been through it before because I am quite new here and hope won't too. Maybe you can send a complaint to the admin to sort this matter out, people like that don't deserve to be on mylot.
