If You Want Something Done Right...

Are you the type of person that has a hard time delgating in fear that the task at hand will not be done the way you want it done? I am and I openly admit it. I take on way too much because of it. At work and at home. Anyone else out there have this problem???

Guilty as charged! We just bought an eliptical machine and I don't want my husband to put it together without me. He doesn't read directions and I'm afraid he'll really mess it up!

ROFL...Can I relate to that or what!!!! My husband is the same way. He will not read the instructions to anything. It has become an on going joke for us. He'll even say. 'Babe, you know I don't read instructions' I have been known to say 'Wade, back away from the...' (what ever it happened to be at the time) My husband also has to be the first one to try out what ever new gadget comes into the house. Without reading the instructions of course. I kid you not, a few years ago my mom gave us her frontloader washing machine and drier. Well he washed a load of clothes and put the thing on super spin or somethings, the wrinkles were unbelievable. While I was working on that he started in on a turkey for christams dinner. When I came out of the utility room I saw him getting ready to stick the bird in the oven. When I asked him where the giblets were he said 'what giblets' that is when I told him to back away from the turkey, don't touch the washer and drier and don't even look at the microwave. He's a hoot!

This is too funny! It has always amazed me why they just ignore the directions. They come with for a reason!

My husband thinks that desks and dressers are "easy" and he doesn't need to read the directions. It took us about 4 or 5 hours to put my computer desk together - with directions! I'm sure it would be a huge mess if he had done what he wanted to - Oh, this part goes here, this part goes there, then oopppsss now that they're together we can't get them where they belong! Let's just force it and see if that works... Argh... With our eliptical, I cleared out a spot near an outlet because the controls for the different "sessions" are electronic. He thought it was battery operated... Hopefully he wont try to do it while I'm out in the morning!!!

Yes, and unfortunately the culprit is my sweet husband. He will rig anything half-way, and it drives me nuts. If there is an opening in the fence and the dogs are getting out; instead of 'fixing' the hole, he'll gather up what ever is laying at hand and stack it in front of the hole; Firewood, buckets, concret blocks. I learned a long time ago to just pick my battles. I go ahead and do what needs to be done myself and be done with it. I think I am just a better problem-solver. He is more into computers and technical things.

HAHA! My husband is the same way! When I was pregnant with our first child we received a baby swing at our baby shower. He put it together and there was a hand full of left over nuts and bolts. He saw nothing wrong with this! Needless to say I had to go back and fix it!

Absolutely! I should just be happy that my husband and stepson get the dishes washed a little. Instead, I inspect them before putting them away or using them and often rewash them. The boys never was the outside of bowls/containers or the underside of plates! They never put the toilet paper on right. So I have to fix that too. I am a picky perfectionist who worries about every little thing.

I have boys also and it is the same way for me. Now I am wondering if it is a female thing?!?

I'm definitely one of those people. My problem is that I'm a perfectionist, and only I can achieve perfection to my standards. People offer to help out with things and I instantly say no, because only I can do it my way

That's it! It's tiring though isn't it? If I could give myself a massage I would..LOL!

I am used to taking responsibility for myself (& others) so it makes me feel vulnerable to let others do stuff for me. I like to get my own food so I can eat what/when I want. I don't like being a passenger in the car. I would rather struggle and take a while to complete a task than ask for help. I don't think its a particularly good attitude but that's the way it is.

So you understand!! I bet you hardly buy anything for yourself either. Always for others, right?
