While searching about on Mylot for discussions
that I want to respond to and also making
discussions that I feel others will want to
respond to along came the question...
What makes you want to respond to a discussion on MYLOT?
Is it because they are in your interests?
Is it because they relate to your life today?
Are the discussions about hobbies that you have?
What is it that sparks your interest first?
Or do you just respond to discussions that
are made by your friends?
Do you respond to your referals discussions?
Oh I am full of questions today, are you?
Just because you have a question should you
start a discussion?
Do you believe in quantity or quality discussions?
I could keep asking questions but I think I will stop.... but should I?

I love MYLOT!

Usually, I check all my friend discussions first.
But only friends that have recently responded to one
of my own discussions.
That way I'm paying them back for posting on mine.
Then, I swing over to top discussions or discussions
with no responses.
As for discussions that draw my interest, mostly
I'm looking for something that is original or fun.
It doesn't have to be a real brain teaser, but
that would be nice.
Also, anything that relates a personal story from
someone's day always gets a response from me.
Those are always easier.

I like your 'payback' scheme - sounds
fair and fun! Sometimes it
is good to push yourself to answer trickier
thought provoking discussions than just answer
discussions similar to others you have
answered many times before - go the brain
teasers!
I like the personal stories too - they are
great when you can say 'Hey I know what you
are living through!'.

I like to respond to discussions for a variety of reasons. There are the discussions that pose really well thought out ideas or questions, that really allow me to think and write my thoughts down. Then there are discussions based on interests, and those can be fun questions or serious questions, depending on the topic and all. I definitely like to run across discussions that I can relate to in my real life, it's always nice to feel like I'm not alone, that other people deal with similar things. So far I haven't run into a lot of discussions where I talk about hobbies, but there have been some, and I definitely would enjoy writing about that.
The thing that first gets my attention is either the question or topic, or if it is from one of my friends, or even from someone I have read a lot of discussions and responses from, who I think comes up with great ideas. That always motivates me to respond.
I think that anytime you have something you want to find out what others think you should start a discussion, because I don't think there is such a thing as a bad question. Now, whether or not it gets a lot of responses is a different thing, but I have found that even getting 1 or 2 responses with people who are sincere is very nice.
I believe in quality first and foremost. Here and in my day to day life, when I write about something I care about, or know a lot about, I tend to write a lot about it, and try to make it the best quality that I can.
Then there is quantity, I also think that is a good thing too, but it should never overshadow quality.
As for your discussion, it is excellent, and definitely high quality! Mylot is great!

I am attraxcted to discussion topics where I am sure that I can write at least 4 lines. I normally pick the discussions started by my friends and then I go to discussions with no responses. Many topics that are termed hot DISCUSSION TOPICS do not have relevance to me and so I don't contribute anything there.

I am glad you are loyal to your friends
and comment on their discussions first . I do understand what you mean about the
so called hot discussion topics not really
being relevent to you personally - this
happens to me too. I guess there is no
point answering something that does not
interest you!
About you commenting on discussions with
no answers yet - can you specifically
search for that?

I always read the discussions my friends start, but don't always respond. For me to respond it has to be a discussion about something that I know a little about. I don't feel comfortable just blurting out something for the sake of leaving a message.
As far as starting discussions go, I start them about things I've done recently, saw on television, places I've went, and again things I know something about. Then I always try to reply to people when they write back to one of my discussions.
I do check discussions in my interest and reply if I see something I can help with.

it is really strange to observe that some members get too much responses and some gets few sometimes not even one for the same kind of postings. so choice cannot be predicted. but for me, i check the discussions going and after going through the content, if i find myself comfortable to answer the discussion then i respond. it does not matter whether it is from my interest or not. becauce sometimes i find myself unable to answer even though it is from my interest. and more importantly i don't believe in making too many posts just for increasing my post count otherwise i could have crossed 500 posts till now or even more. but my main concern is regarding the material or content what i am going to post.atleast with my good posting i can make my points more clear to people and that should be the main purpose. too many posting doesn't help in increasing earnings. take care.........thanks

This is true - the number of postings you
have does not equal the amount of earnings
you have! They believe in quality and not
so much quantity.
I think the members that have the most
responses must have a bunch of loyal friends.
See if we do the fair thing of being active
with the people who are active for us
- therefore if someone answers a discussion
of yours, you answer their discussion of theirs
- then I believe we will have more responses to
our discussions, what do you think?

Excellent question - you're sure to be a hot topic.
For me primarily two, a bit bipolar also:-
Positively, when I know I can help or am informed.
Negatively, when I feel scornful or annoyed about something.
These can actually overlap. There is another category if I really like someone, but I have yet to find anyone I really like here (though already at least one has taken a dislike to me).

I guess what you are talking about - positive
or negative - is passion, if you are passionate
about something you can easily respond and there
is a greater want to respond.
It is good to hear that you are also willing to
be loyal to the mylotters that you like - now
just to find some - you are still new so don't
you worry, there are some goodies here

I don't know what has happened, but I have lost my interest of responding... I loved to respond and got my 200 posts pretty fast, but now. I just visit here once a day and read a little bit, and today is first day in a while that I have even responded to anyone. I'm trying to catch my interest again. I only respond to interesting discussion where I feel I can tribute something useful.

It sounds like you just need a case of
serious verbal diarrhea! (did you know
that there are two ways listed in the
dictionary to spell that word! It's ok
to spell it diarrhoea too!)
It is easy though to respond to discussions
when you think you can easily rattle off a
few sentences than have to sit there and
think for a few minutes though!

Sometimes I pick them from the interesting topic headings - and other times I pick small ones which are easy to answer if I'm not in a serious frame of mind. A lot of the discussions are quite deep and serious, and you definitely need to be in a 'thinking' mood to give them your full attention. I definitely believe in quality discussions, but I do try to comment on things my friends post - unless I know absolutely nothing about it and have nothing to give!

I respond to the Discussions on my interests.

I respond to the Discussions which are today's top discussion.
I respond to the Discussions which are today's hot topic.
I respond to the Discussions with no responses.

And I guess you use alot of repetition?
That is one way to get your four lines
to earn the $s I guess. I think though
I would rather post non-repetitive sentences
but each to their own I guess.

I always read new discussion posted here in mylot and if the discussion interest me or i feel that i have to left a comment or feedback then i have to post a response.
If the discussion is kindda nonsense then i just have to read and no response. I just dont like to response nonsense topic because i know they are just posting it just to earn money here in mylot.
Well, thats only my opinion though!

Well I have no specific requirements for responding to discussions. If they are on my friends list then they are but I dont normaly seek out my friends discussions. Just which ever discussion's headline looks interesting.
I know there are some here in mylot that do look for those specific things you asked but I am not one of them. My favorite type of discussion is a subject I am really passionate about that way I can write more. So I guess i do look for something specific lol a discussion that is going to make me talk more

Hi! I see a lot of questions I am interested in. Also, a lot of members seek for advices and I just give them my two cents worth. Not sure if they will follow my advice but it is definitely worth a try. Nothing to lose. Just a few calories from typing.
Also, most questions I answer are of my interest and it makes me think on what I WOULD do in those types of situation. In a day, I alternately check the hot topic or the new discussions or those with no responses. Anything.
Answering these questions also hones my skills in grammar and writing so it's a lot of fun for me.

I like discussions that make good debate or are controversial. I'm steering of the ones that ask stupid questions, but unfortunately they seem to get attention they don't deserve.

I like to respond to discussions that I feel I can provide some contribution to in answering it. I don't really respond to disussions like, "So, today I did this..." or "What's your favorite color?" Some discussions I do find and interesting and will usually respond to them, but those are usually also ones that I feel I can provide a contribution to the discussion. I am a psychology student, so I tend to find interest in relationship or marriage problems, behavior discussions (such as the effect of video games on children or something like that), or things of that nature. I don't really start discussions too often because I really don't feel like I have anything new to ask that hasn't already been asked before. I believe in quality of discussions rather than quantity. Simply saying, "I ate beans today and they were good," isn't really my idea of an interesting discussion, though I'm sure the people that start them are just trying to increase their earnings.

Truth be told, the only thing that makes me respondto a discussion is the title. If the title catches me attention then I'm sure going to respond. It's that simple. Though obviously I'm not goingto respond to discussions in interest I dont have listed simply because I wont see them. So there :)
