I live in Ontario Canada where gay marriage is permitted, and has been for some time. Guess what folks society has not fallen apart. Birth rates remain steady, no one is suggesting bestiality or pedophilia be permitted (beyond the handful of nut jobs who were already requesting it), and over all no one takes any more notice of a gay wedding then they would of a heterosexual wedding. I find no problem with homosexuals being wed, any more then I have a problem with heterosexuals being wed. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

I do not know anything specific about Australias laws, so I will address this in general terms.
Typically governments give financial benefits to married couples, they do this not because of the love involved... Chances are they don't really care who you bed down with. It is primarilly a financial decision based on the investment chances of a couple having children. When children grow up they pay a ton of taxes, way more than the government is giving couples for the slight possibility of creating them. This is most likely a business decision with the fact that gay couples are incapable of generating future generations of tax income. To use an analogy, if you had a big fistfull of cash and went to the stock market to invest, would you even consider purchasing a stock that is 100% guaranteed to lose money? I wouldn't, and I wouldn't want my government to either.
Maybe gay couples should come up with a reason they deserve these benefits/investments other than the fact that they love each other, good job being in love... nobody cares.
No part of the business world(insurance etc) has any reason to be against gay relationships as they recieve profits on a much shorter time scale.
Just my 2 cents.

I am not gay. Personally I see nothing wrong with it what so ever. So what that they love the same gender? For people who are gay whats so different about them? What makes straight people any different? Wow, because we can make babies with our partners? I'll never understand it. I think people here in the US go against it because it's not their prefrence and that's not how god made us. I just think what ever makes a person happy they should do. I have so many friends that are either bi or just down right gay. It doesnt bother me. Just as long as they leave me alone lol. Other then that... I see no problem. I know that only a few states allow gay marriage and I believe all the states SHOULD allow it.
