No, I just count how many seconds until the lightning strikes, if its under 2 seconds then I might shut the computer off.

First thing i do.. is to switch off the mobile.. and keep it out of my pocket.. and i follow the rest as you said..
The reason why i keep the mobile out of my pocket is that, at the time of thunder, it could attract the electro magnetic waves.. and i could not get the technical term correct... i could result even to the bursting of the cellphone..even though it is in the off mode.

Hi youless! We do the same thing. We turn off all our electrical appliances including our computer. We do unplug them all including the cable connections. I do believe that it is better to be cautious than to have an accident or the electrical appliances be affected or damaged somehow.
Take care and God bless!

When it's thundering and lighting I don't cut off the tv. But the computer goes off. Sometimes the power goes out and that is one of the reasons the computer goes off. I still watch tv though, if it goes off it will come back on later. It doesn't stay off that long though.

I don't do anything really special when there is thunder. My computer runs on a battery, so I don't have to keep it plugged in, but it's not usually much use to me in a storm, because the storm usually knocks out the wireless internet.

Erm... i normally wont do anything if there is a thunder. When i'm in the middle of something i wont do anything bout the thunder. If it is really heavy then i will only switch of all electronic devices.

Nope... do not do anything special. We rarely have thunder here. So when it happens, it will never really occur to me to do anything.
I guess it is better to switch of the electric appliances in case of a surge due to the lightning.
But the electrical cables here are mostly underground. So that is also not really a big concern for turning stuff off as well.

We usually cover our mirrors with blanket specially big ones because they said it is where lightning hits. we do turn off some appliances like TV or lights. Also avoiding talking on telephone because I myself experience being grounded on it.

Yes we as a family talk and play cards and dance and have a sing song, whatever mood takes us, the lightning just makes us merry and happy all in one!!!
Sometimes we have a party when there is thunder, but when we go to all the trouble, the thunder goes away....naughty cloud noise...bad thunder!!!!

we have very, very 'strong' lightning + thunderstorms occasionally... and.. it is always advisable to not just swith off, BUT ALSO take out the plugs of the tv or computer when there is such a thunderstorm (disconnect these appliances from the power source) because we still hear about accidents due to lightning..
a friend once had his whole house burnt down because lightning struck his tv set (which was already switched off, but still plugged on)...
