i am not always comfortable with being a passive smoker, but at times i am forced to do this in some public places, where there are no laws against public smoking and this usually make me sick.i am of the view that cigarette smoking in public places should be banned and strict penalty imposed against offenders.what is your view on this?

It is definitely an abuse of rights because the harm done to others out there is much more. Passive smokers tend to suffer much more, if not as much, as the actual smokers.

you should only be able to smoke outside in places where it has a smoking sign.

smoking areas, not banned smoking. Do you drink cause i dont and i believe it is really bad for your health, how about we ban drinking in resturants, just as bad for your health but would never happen. DISCRIMINATION towards smokers, hmmmmm smoking areas allow us to smoke without forcing you to inhale in so whats the problem

I do not think that smoking in public should be banned. I think there should always be a designated area for smoking, and smokers should respect the non smokers by only using the those areas. I also think the non smokers should respect the smokers by not trying to force their point of view on them. They have the same right to not smoke as a smoker should have to smoke. Can you imagine if someone says that a non smoker should be forced to smoke if they are in a certain area in public? Of course not! That is just a ridiculous notion, isn't it? Yet so many think it is perfectly acceptable to attempt to force the reverse idea on a smoker. If you smoke, only do so in designated areas, if you do not smoke, then avoid those areas.

I agree smoking should be banned indoors, though outdoors should be allowed (away from restaurants), because there is more places for the smoke to go, and someone could just cross the street or move away if they don't like it. Indoors though, even if there is a designated "smoking area", I always come home smelling like smoke, and it is disgusting. Besides, the whole non-smoking area is a farse if there are no walls. Once when I was pregnant I went to an Applebee's, where the bar is in the center of the restuarant. The waiter put me at a table just off to the side from the bar. I was like, this is non-smoking? and he said yes, there was no smoking at this table. Well, buddy, I don't sit in non-smoking because I don't want to be allowed to smoke, I sit in non-smoking because I don't feel like killing my lungs because other people want to kill theirs. He moved me the farthest away possible, and next time I went in, he smiled at me and put me in the farthest corner again.
