Should I stay of should I go

A couple of months ago I gave myLot a breather and went elsewhere. I left as a protest about something and came back after a respectable period. However, whilst away I started a blog. Nothing too fancy, but a few people found it and came and chatted to me every so often. Then I came back to myLot and everything reverted to normal. I still have the blog however. But it is much neglected. I visit occasionally, but have written little of consequence for some time. I am not happy about this. But I don't really have time for both. My dilemma is: do I stay on myLot and continue maintaining my blog when I remember. Alternatively, should I reverse the trend and concentrate on the blog, visiting myLot occasionally? I'd be grateful for any thoughts that you might have.

I will be absolutely desolate if you go anywhere young man and even although I love your blogs I think you should concentrate on mylot and continue with them just the way you have been! I meant to tell you I have been reading your blogs but can't remember my password so haven't left any comments! Hugs xxx

You're needed here. That's clear from the responses I've read above. Your blog is wonderful, and I love it, and I think you should continue it, but the Lot is different. It's got that interaction, that socialization thing, ya know? You need that. And we need you. And I need you here. So there's your answer. But how about you set aside a time to write in the blog? Like others have said, but maybe only 3 days a week or something. You can get it set. Hey, I know. Why not do your blog on the days you work a the cathedral? You'll have that schedule, so you can use the same one for blogging. That way, you've got a set time each week, before you go to the cathedral, to write in your blog. Ack, I don't know, but it's not a terrible idea anyway. I just know I want you here.

Well, as you may know I do have a blog, it's 'Dorywold', which is the world I live in most of the time. :) My blog's just ramblings and me talking about my day etc, kind of a diary but a bit more interesting than that. I enjoy 'doryworld' because I've got friends there, the friends there are free to chat as much as they want, which unfortunately MyLot doesn't seem to like, so it's wonderful to just be able to chat away and ramble and stuff.
I pop to MyLot sometimes, but sometimes I forget to do it, I prefer the blog for peopleyness, but MyLot because I can earn on here.
I suppose it's a matter of do you want to chat more or do you want to earn more.

I don't really have any friends on my blog Dory. I just write what I want and if people come along that's fine, but I'm not too bothered either way. I have some good friends here and I would miss them if I left. As for earnings. I make a little. But I wouldn't want to depend on it for my mortgage payment!

You must decide where you heart is at this time being, you needn't give up one of them permanently you just don't have the time for both at this time.
I see no harm in putting little effort in one of the two and more in the other, that way you don't have to let go of either one of them.
You could make a pro and con list and see which one has the most pro's or the least bad cons (sometimes you write down one con but this can be a pretty important one to you and outrule 5 others).
Good luck deciding!

LOL, as long as you still have fun it's ok.
Make sure you don't get overworked with everything and stay healthy and happy. See you around and have a great day!

I am always amaze by people that can do several networking sites, and run a home and job and raise their children. I spend too much time here as it is and struggle to fit my blog in too. My blog is where I "write", here I play. Right now I have no confidence in my writing anyway so I might as well play. But eventually I shall struggle back and maybe disappear from here for a day or two. I have that list i my head. You can see where the pros lie mostly because I am here more often than not.

Pikey, I have this same dilemma. When I am not online it means I am busy with work, and then when I get back to mylot I am so far behind that by the time I get caught up, I am busy with work again. That leaves my blog which is something I really want to build on just out there hanging and flapping in the wind... I have thought about this and I do believe I am going to for right now concentrate on updating my blog one day a week. Make it a priority at least once a week, at least for an hour or so.
By the way where is that pub story? I am not sure I ever caught on to where you were writing that.

i think but i don't know but i think i know what you mean....I write...its my passion. I tend to neglect it because well, it is not as entertaining as mylot is. there isnt as much feedback and it is often long in coming. here, you write and the responses are for the most part instantanious. I'll never be a famous writer and so the other stuff i do...i do when im into it and dont stress over it anymore. I do what i feel like doing when I feel like it. some days i just cant get into here or there and i just let it go. sometimes i let my other writing sites go for weeks and it seems right...its no big deal....i just go with what seems right at the time.

I am totally biased here as I am not good with computers and have mastered myLot but even though have been into blog can't understand how it all works so I'd rather you stay here, perhaps do a daily story here for discussion, but that is only because I don't understand blogs and also because I would miss you very very muchly if you weren't here. Ellie :D

I have no intention of leaving myLot yet Ellie. Although that day will come I am certain. I am just trying to work out how I can continue with the blog, which was my refuge when I staged my protest and was something that I enjoyed. I'd miss too many people here to up and go. When I do go, i won't be posting a discussion about it. I'll just go. But you'll know. I've got your e mail address.

A choice that only you can make Piky, sometimes you can just have a little too much of someting and tire yourself of it,but you do a grand job posting away here on Mylot, and im sure the majority would totally agree with me.But it may be a good idea to try a different forum now and again and branch out,or incorporate another into your routine. But as you point out there are only so amy hours in a day and there just isnt time for everything !!..just sit quietly and think ...what is it that YOU want to do??what YOU want out of life??...the answer will come ....

well i havent had anything good to blog about lately so i havent.. that and i was really active in a community that had no security on who could and could not look into your blog so since i knew anyone could look at it i never blogged about personal things so i got out of the habit of doing it altogether!! im gonna start it back up but im not gonna do one here.. i already have places on myspace and livejournal and are friends only and etc so that i know exactly who is viewing it and etc since i dont want certain people accessing certain things.. but im weird. i can be totally open with things that most people arent but on regular things i am more secretive but that just comes from having several stalkers in my past.. i guess you could either try to do both and separate your time or do certain things on certain days or search for a place that offers both better

i guess you can do whatever you think is more convenient for you on this regard...but if you wish to be active here and at the same time on bloggings then you have to manage your time to be available to each site..what about your personal thing? i mean the time when you go out with your wife , do some shopping or work in the process..can you really handle that??

it depens on you which one is your priority and where are you happy and gives much interest to you. I think its the satisfaction thing that you should choose what is going to be prioritize... but, if you can entertain both at a time, i think you should continue both... that it is a different kind of community and being with the two communitites i think you can share and learn new ideas and though at the same you will gain lot of dozens of friends from the two...

I started my blog just before I joined myLot and it was my intention to blog every day and to develop my blog. However since joining myLot I usually blog once or twice a week and I post at myLot every day. I must say I enjoy myLot more than I do blogging, but I am getting new myLot referrals from my blog and many myLotters visit my blog, so it works both ways.
I think you should keep up with both. If you can write on your blog once or twice a week, put your blog link on your myLot profile and write about myLot on your blog, you could benefit by doing both.

Well, I see you dilemma and I understand. I believe you should visit your myLot occasionally; you will still be able to respond to the comments people leave but not as often. This way you will still be able to still concentrate on your blog. I hope my short paragraph was able to help you.

Right now, I'm in a place where money is at the top of my list of things I need the most. Spend more time on the site that brings forth the most cash each month for regular visitation. I'm sorry for whatever happened to you in the past. I've heard that people make more money from blogging. Being a student, I can't do much of anything. I wish you luck.
