I have watched the 3rd season of Donald Trump's THE APPRETICE and the candidates were divided into two groups as I HAVE MENTIONED ABOVE... Street smart were people who managed to climb up the ladder of success though wasn't able to finish their education while the other group called Book Smart was able to finish and most of them even graduated with honors. Between the two... WHO DO YOU THINK would be more successful in the business world and even in the real life? AND WHY DO YOU THINK SO?
I am kind of confused actually?!but LET US DECIDE like what Mr. Trump did!

I will choose street smart over book smart.. Because being street smart will give u a better edge in psychological barrier and makes one better in judging people.. ALl this comes from experience which books dun teach us.. ANd in business world, experience is very important and must be willing to take risks.. So i will go for street smart..

I've used this topic with my students, lol..and well, because my students are Koreans and just an FYI, Koreans have high consideration when it comes to education. when I graduated from college, I was totally pointless..lol..I didn't know there is a bigger world out there and not only the world I've known from books, it's better to be street smart which I define experience and being wise than to be academically smart wondering how it's like if for example applying for a job.Don't get me wrong, education is important but adding up experience, you'll go places.

i think there's need to be a balance of both skills. Alot of people feel there's no need to be street smart because they mix street smarts with being villian or a dealer of the streets. But street smarts actually gives you good wisdom and leadership.
Book smarts is more like how to be a good manager, so you structure people within a box.

i go for STREET SMART, because i have known a lot of book smart people but they only can stand when they can get knowledge from the book. without the guidance of the book they seems kind of lost. they always depend on what the book will say, based on the book. well that is only what i think.

Hi.
I believe Street smart people will have the upper hand. Education is but a way to channelize you thought process in one single direction, in which you will be called specialist or expert, but a street smart person is more open to new inputs from the situation and surroundings and can take wiser steps.

Book smart is obviously better.
There's a lot more in books than on the street.
With books you can learn anything in the world.
That's not so with the street. Streets are only streets and they are the same worldwide.
Definitely go with the books !

these are two different kind of personal and intelllectual experience of all of us... being a street smart makes you sometimes reach your goal in life,,, also, same as in book smart people... and sometimes these to personalities connive with each other... i would say that this two is essential for the following reasons...
firstly, being a street smart gains you an actual experience in life, that it will make you better person and have some added experiences in life... in the end it will serve as precautionary measure or as a inspiration for you... in addition, being a book smart people also added a factual experience from the mentors who had an experience before or some techniques that may suggest on what to in life... combining this two, i think it will help you in life and achieve dreams and plans in life that you wanted to...
although, street smart alone is sometimes rely on luck but, having perseverance, patience and hard work in life does not mean that you will not succeed even if you are less educated person... inversely, book smart people also rely on textual principle's and techniques that are effective and makes you become a thinker for every situation...
therefore, adding these two wualities makes you better persons and may help you in achieving your goals and plans in life... that, without the other it may turn out hard as you are striving to fly for only a wing...

i would choose street smart rather than book smart... being a street smart person... it makes you more practical and instantly make a solution to the problem... an easy short cut because of your experiences that enables you to polish whatever is your field...

It all depends on the business. I can se both doing very well but in different fields. The street smart would do well with a business where you need to have a feel for the average man, like retail and restaurants and entertainment. Being street smart, you know people. What makes them tick. But the book smart would be better in business where you need to know the technical part of business. They would be better in computers and research. Their book learning would be a must.

A person will be more successful if he/she is a combination of the two--book smart and street smart. I must say that one needs to be book smart to land on a good job. It is because a high educational background is required to qualify for a high-paying job. However, not all people are gifted with that knowledge to memorize facts and figures, etc etc but very practical. They are smart in terms of practicality and how to make and find ways. I guess someone must be both to be very successful. :D

And this point in time, I prefer to be book smart. Because that is what the situation calls for. As not strange to you kuya, I am a college student now. So, I have to be more inclined in academic things. However, as the world changes, my preferences do too. Hehehe. To top it all, I would stick to what the status quo requires. :D

Although book smarts are extremely important for many careers, I have to believe that real life experience "street smarts" are what will benefit a person. It takes a real experience to give people skills and talents that they can use in the business world. I've been in college for 8 years and although I have a lot of book experience, it wasn't until I started my financial career and gained real experience that I fully understood the entire picture of my job function. Book smarts are totally different than street smarts. People can learn anything - whether you're taught in a book or from another person.

i think that depends on being at the right or wrong place at the time. different situations call for different things. i believe good ol' common sense comes in alot handier sometime than book sense.sometimes people don't have common sense at all or don't use it. my step-father was a college professor[bless his heart], a smart man but not one dab of common sense did he have, i felt sorry for him.sometimes i think u can have too much book sense.

i am more street smart. sometime street smart helps in business. i was a vip for a securtiy firm. yeah unreal huh? most people who knows freak out and don't belive it. but being street smart helped me to deal with people. even in other jobs i had it helped me to deal with people better.
now i work with my brother with his company, i am just a helper. but the idea i come up with he is impress by them.
street smart people most of the time can read people. know when they are full of it.we often know more then book smart people do. what we don't know we often catch on fast, because in the streets you have to catch on fast.
my brother is even street smart, and he makes real good money with his company. and my other brother who had his own company at one time, he couldn't even read or write and made over 5,000 profit a month.

WOAH! totally blown away with your story! THANKS FOR SHARING! I will believe you... thats for sure. NOW its 7:35 and booksmart is completely buried underground. I am agreeing with you when you say, streetsmart knows all kinds of people more because they are the ones usually interacting with them more often. Thanks for your wonderful insight

I know of some people who are street smart and they're very successful now but nowadays I don't think that will work.Well,it depends on what society you live in.In our country,it's hard to find a good and stable job if you didn't finish school.Even those who took up doctorate or master's degree have a hard time in finding a job.The standards are now getting higher.

Yes ofcourse they have, but its up to them to succeed because I believe book smart is very serious people and if they fail sometimes they go crazy because they cannot handle such problems. Unlike street smart they can take good care of themselves and they just lough for the problem they encountered and find solutions for it.

YES... many STREET SMART manages to be greater than the achievements of some BOOK SMART! but there are some BOOK SMART greater than STREET SAMRT as well. And I can't disagree with you... but don't you think BOOK SMART has the edge because of the education they've got from school?

i think it really depends on the individual and what kinds of opportunities that person had been given...
street smart person tend to be more sales related and can relate better with general public or people off the street...other morons like themselves...but then again, street smarts only relate with a select few...other morons...
book smart people tend to be more analytical thinkers and go by the book more. but they might not related well with others or certain people, just a selected few...
so therefore, i think in order for one to succeed in business they would need a balance of both...intellectual abilities and public relations...and an open mindedness to relate to a vast wide array of people other than the selected few that they fit in with...to sell to a larger group of people in this diverse nation....
i tend to be more book smart...

i guess i will choose book smart...because if people have book smart, they are smart enough to work on their street smart to improve it and be me well rounded. but if people are only street smart...then they are not likely to improve their book smart side, and remain one-sided...
put me under book smart side...

Hello bro! I don't actually do not know the series but I think a mixture of both would make the most successful person. Come to think of it, he/she would be smart, brave, and one with personality and a conviction. Hope that Mr. Trump made another group that did both. Hehe. Good day.
